ADDRESS TO THE FPNO COMRADES COMMUNITY
Dear Comrades,
The tragic and untimely death of our former Students' Union Government (SUG) President, Comr. Okebaram Stanley Chimaraoke, has thrown our community into deep mourning. We extend our heartfelt condolences to his family, friends, colleagues, the Department of Civil Engineering, and the entire Federal Polytechnic Nekede community.
At a time like this, emotions naturally run high. We all desire answers, and we all seek justice. However, it is important that our emotions do not outweigh our sense of judgment.
As of now, the circumstances surrounding Comr. Stanley's death remain under investigation. While his lifeless body was reportedly recovered from the Nembe River area of Bayelsa State, where he was serving his National Youth Service Corps, the actual cause of his death has not been officially established. Several claims are already circulating across social media and other platforms, but many of them remain unverified.
As comrades who stand for truth, justice, and responsibility, let us avoid spreading rumours, assumptions, or narratives that may eventually prove false. False information not only misleads the public but can also interfere with investigations and further traumatise the bereaved family.
Rather than speculate, let us encourage the appropriate authorities to conduct a thorough, transparent, and professional investigation. Some of the areas that deserve careful examination include:
1. His last known movements and activities before his disappearance.
2. The timeline of communication with family, friends, colleagues, and fellow corps members.
3. Statements from individuals who had contact with him in the hours or days leading to his death.
4. Forensic and medical examination to determine the actual cause and time of death.
5. Examination of the location where his body was recovered and whether it was the actual scene of the incident.
6. Review of any available CCTV footage, phone records, digital evidence, and eyewitness accounts where applicable.
7. Investigation into any possible security, criminal, accidental, or other circumstances that may have contributed to his death.
These are matters for trained investigators to establish through evidence, not for the public to conclude through speculation.
The greatest honour we can give our departed comrade is to demand justice responsibly. Let us remain calm, united, and patient while supporting every lawful effort to uncover the truth. If anyone possesses credible information that may assist the investigation, such information should be provided directly to the appropriate security agencies rather than circulated on social media.
May God grant eternal rest to Comr. Okebaram Stanley Chimaraoke, comfort his loved ones, and grant wisdom and success to those investigating this unfortunate incident.
May truth prevail, and may justice be served.
Comr. Rotr. Obiyor Ugochukwu Reginald
