The idea of the establishment of Osogbo Grammar school was mooted by a group of Christians, who were members of all saints Anglican Church, Osogbo about the year 1943. The Osogbo Secondary school movement was formed under Chairmanship of one Mr. Lewis, a government pharmacist then at the Osogbo General Hospital. FIRST SENIOR PREFECT, COLONEL ADEJORO EXITS.
Colonel Samuel Sunday Adejoro, the first Senior Prefect of our alma mater, is dead. He died in Lagos on December 4, 2024.
Funeral is scheduled for December 22-23rd, 2024.

The Osogbo Grammar School HSC 1981-83 Set are so sad to announce the passing of our friend and classmate, Mr. Olaolu Olusina, who passed on July 21st, 2024, after a brief illness in Lagos.
The late Olaolu was the Secretary of the HSC 81-83 Set. His classmates described him as a good playmate, friend, brother, compatriot, dignified, smart, reliable, bridge-builder, trusted and a jolly good fellow
Formal funeral arrangements will be announced by the family.
After Olaolu successfully completed HSC at Osogbo Grammar School in 1983, he proceeded to the University of Ibadan where he obtained a Bachelors of Arts degree in 1986. He started his journalism career in 1992 with the Cross River State Newspaper Corporation, publishers of Nigerian Chronicle. Before then, he was a Specialist Salesman at GBO/MDS, division of UACN in Lagos for two years . He also had a brief stint with the defunct Concord newspapers before moving to Insider Weekly Magazine.
In 2003 , he joined The Diplomat Magazine in Accra, Ghana, as the Editorial Coordinator for West Africa, returning to Nigeria in July 2007 to join the news desk of THISDAY Newspaper as Assistant Editor (News), rising to become the Deputy Group News Editor/Motoring Editor of THISDAY. He left in 2013 as the News Editor of THISDAY, The Sunday Newspaper, to join The UNION Newspaper as the News Editor. At The UNION, Olaolu was appointed the Sunday Editor within a year.
Olaolu, a multi-dimensional and versatile writer, also wrote for the renowned U.S based L**e Report. He was a Contributing Editor, covering special assignments for the magazine in West, East and Southern Africa, including country reports on the lubricants industry in Nigeria, Kenya and Botswana. Olaolu contributed to South Africa-based online publication, howwemadeitinafrica.com, and his feature story on the founders of Jumia, Nigeria’s number one online store, was adjudged one of the 10 most-read articles of the publication for 2013.
Olaolu, the pioneer Editor at THEWILL Nigeria (www.thewillnews.com), was the Managing Editor, AUTO REPORT AFRICA (www.autoreportafrica.com)/ L**es West Africa (www.lubeswestafrica.com), was full member of the Nigerian Guild of Editors (NGE).

The death has been announced of Adetokunbo Babarinde of the 1979 Set. He passed on February 8, 2024, in the United Kingdom. Funeral takes place on March 13 in London

::: ADIEU, BIG BEN! :::
We regretfully announce the death of our 1981-83 HSC classmate at Osograms, Benedict "Big Ben" Kentebe, who passed away on December 23, 2023, after a brief illness in Lagos. Ben was a fun guy to be with, much liked by classmates as an easy-going, intelligent and dependable friend.
Born May 20th, 1963, in Onitsha, Ben attended NEPA Senior Staff School in Kanji and graduated in 1974.
He then proceeded to Fakunle Comprehensive High School Osogbo in 1975, where he completed secondary education in 1980, after a little spell in Timi Agbale Secondary Boarding School, Ede.
After 'O Levels', Ben was admitted to Osogbo Grammar School in 1981 for Higher School Certificate, which he completed in 1983.
He gained admission into the University of Ibadan and obtained a Bachelor of Arts degree in history and philosophy in 1988.
Big Ben married Violet Kentebe nee Ekiye in 1987 while in his final year. Together they had four wonderful sons. He was retained by NiTel Communications in Ibadan after his NYSC. While working, he also completed a master's degree programme in International Relations at the University of Ibadan in 1996.
The following year, he got employment into the federal civil service in the Legal Aid Council, which required him to relocate to Abuja until 1999. He transferred to the Revenue Mobilisation Allocation and Fiscal Commission, an arm of the federal service, in Port Harcourt.
Rising through the ranks, Ben became a director while in Port Harcourt and was then relocated to Makurdi, Benue State, where he became the Zonal Coordinator, the capacity in which he served until his meritorious retirement in 2023. He was also a fellow and board member of The Environmental Management and Disaster Risk Reduction Board.
He passed away after a brief illness on December 23rd, 2023, survived by wife, children, grandchild, siblings and numerous cousins and relatives. He would be sorely missed.

:: DONATIONS POUR IN FROM HSC 1984-86 and 1974 SETS ::
Celebrate the HSC 1984-86 Set for the recent renovation of the Biology and Physics laboratories at Osograms.
This set is exemplary in supporting the school's infrastructural development needs. The same set renovated the Chemistry laboratory, which was commissioned on Friday, June 24, 2022. The new renovation is slated for commissioning on November 17.
Annoucing the completion of the project, the Chairman of the Governing Board, Mr. Wale Adedapo, remarked that with the age of the school, infrastructural renewal has become a priority.
In another deveopment, the 1974 Set has donated notebooks to the school.

:: HSC SET OF 1981-83 DONATES TEXTBOOKS TO THE SCHOOL LIBRARY ::
The HSC Set of 1981-1983 donated texbooks to the library of Osogbo Grammar School on Monday, November 6, 2023. The books covered science, arts and business subjects.
The presentation was made by class representatives, Mr Olawale F. Aderemi and Mrs Bola Morgan, supported by Mrs Tope Samuel, a director in the Osun State Ministry of Education at the school premises.
Receiving the donation were the head boy, head girl and the two school principals. The principals said both staff and students of Osogbo Grammar School appreciated the gesture by the HSC 1981-83 Set, remarking that the books will be available to students in the school library.
The same HSC set had donated textbooks in 2022.

We announce the passing of Venerable Gabriel Oladele Adesina, the principal of Osogbo Grammar School between 1976 and 1977, at the age of 100.
During his tenure, the late principal was revered as a disciplinarian, educator and an astute administrator.
All old students are implored to attend the funeral ceremony, if possible.
