A VISIT TO THE CRIMMD MUSEUM OF NIGERIAN HISTORY
A fascinating privately owned and managed archival museum located in Ajao Estate, Lagos State, Nigeria. It specializes in archiving various items from Nigeria's history—including bottles, currency, postage stamps, history books, biographies, TV sets, radios, musical LP albums, telephones, cameras, photographs, magazines from 1980, and newspapers from 1922. It also houses old beverage collections with over 400 bottles dating back to 1952, offering visitors the opportunity to explore and understand the country's past from pre-colonial periods up to the present day.
The museum holds historical relics such as stamps dating back to 1868, postage stamps issued since 1960, and Nigerian coins and banknotes dating back to 1910. Our old currency and coins date back to the period prior to the establishment of the West African Currency Board, featuring samples of various forms of money used previously—including cowries, manilas, and other commodities used as a medium of exchange in barter systems.
