SUNDAY EVENING SERVICE | A CALL TO FEAR THE LORD

There is something special about an evening spent in the presence of God.

The Chapel of Praise, Dennis Memorial Grammar School, Onitsha, was filled with worship, reflection and the sound of hearts turned towards God during this week’s Sunday Evening Song.

With Orji Praise moderating the service, the DMGS family was led through an uplifting time of praise and worship before the Principal, Rev. Dr. Chiemezie Ogidi, brought the Word of God.

At the heart of the message was a powerful reminder: the fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom.

The students were encouraged to understand that fearing God is not simply about being afraid, but about reverencing Him, honouring His Word and choosing to live according to His ways. It is a foundation for wise decisions, godly character and a life that reflects Christ.

As the evening came to a close, the message remained clear: in a world filled with many voices and influences, the fear of the Lord should remain at the heart of our walk, our choices and our future.

Another Sunday evening. Another opportunity to worship. Another reminder to walk in the ways of the Lord.

Chapel of Praise, DMGS – Sunday Service Highlights

Today, as the Church observed Trinity 4, the Chapel of Praise, DMGS was filled with an atmosphere of worship, thanksgiving, and fellowship as students, staff, and guests gathered to glorify God.

The sermon was delivered by Rev. Chukwuemeka Obi, Chaplain of the Chapel of the Holy Spirit, Federal Girls' Secondary School, 3-3, Onitsha, and a proud member of the DMGS Class of 2001. His inspiring message encouraged the congregation to remain steadfast in faith, uphold godly values, and dedicate their lives to faithful service.

A major highlight of the service was the rededication of the DMGS Class of 2001 (Onitsha Branch). This year marks 25 years since the class graduated from Dennis Memorial Grammar School. To commemorate this milestone, they returned to their alma mater to worship, offer thanksgiving to God, and renew their commitment to the values that have continued to guide them.

The celebration was made even more special as many members of the Class of 2001 attended with their wives and children, giving their families the opportunity to experience the school that played a significant role in shaping their lives and character.

Living out the enduring DMGS spirit of Duty, Magnanimity, Gratitude, and Service, the Class of 2001 demonstrated exceptional generosity by presenting gifts to students and members of staff as a source of encouragement. They also made a generous donation towards the Chapel of Praise, reaffirming their commitment to the growth and development of their alma mater.

Their visit stands as a powerful testament to gratitude, unity, and the enduring bond between old boys and their school. The Class of 2001 has once again shown that the values instilled at Dennis Memorial Grammar School continue to inspire lives of excellence, service, and giving.
