Today at Ogunmokunwa Group of Schools, Kota-Ekiti, we celebrated Asa Day in grand style!

Our students shone beautifully in their Yoruba attires as they performed cultural dances, drama, ewi, proverbs, riddles, fashion parade, quiz, and debate.

It was colourful, educative, and memorable.

REPORT OF WEEK 2 SOCIAL GATHERING

The Week 2 Social Gathering at Ogunmokunwa Memorial Christ College, Kota Ekiti, was marked by an intense and exciting debate competition between SSS2 and SSS3 students. The motion for debate was: “The Proposed Nigerian Curriculum: A Step Forward or a Burden on Students.”

The SSS3 team, represented by Adepoju Esther, Oluwatuyi Ajibike, and Boboye Favour, argued brilliantly, stating the demerits of the curriculum change outweigh its merits. On the other hand, the SSS2 team, represented by Adebola Marvels, Aina Eniola, and Akintayo Ebunoluwa, defended their stance with determination and intelligence stating the needs for a change in curriculum.

Both sides delivered thought-provoking points and impressed the audience with their confidence, eloquence, and mastery of the subject matter. However, after careful assessment by the judges, SSS3 emerged victorious with a total of 224 points, while SSS2 scored 172 points.

The competition not only showcased the debating skills of the students but also reflected their growing interest in national educational issues. It was indeed a memorable and impactful event that combined learning with healthy competition.

SSS 3 Students Conclude NECO Exams with Thanksgiving, Prayer, and Exhortation

Following the completion of the final NECO paper, our SSS 3 students gathered for a solemn session of fasting and prayer, giving thanks to God for His faithfulness throughout their six-year secondary school journey.

During the prayer session led by Oluwatosin Oluwaferanmi, the students expressed deep gratitude to God for seeing them through to the end and committed their results into His hands, asking that He crown their efforts with outstanding success.

A brief but impactful exhortation was also delivered by Ogunmokunwa Adesua Emmanuel, who encouraged the students to make wise use of their time before admission into higher institutions. They were urged to acquire productive skills and develop themselves further, rather than wasting this transitional period.

This godly and purposeful gathering stood in sharp contrast to the growing trend among students in many schools who resort to tearing their uniforms and engaging in unruly celebrations after their final exams. Our students have shown that gratitude, discipline, and focus are better ways to mark such a significant milestone.

We pray that God reward their hard work with excellent results and bright futures.
