As Regards this WAEC result,Only 38.32% of candidates (754,545 out of 1,969,313) obtained a minimum of five credits, including English and Mathematics. This represents a 33.8% drop from 2024.

WAEC attributed the decline to a new approach that reduced examination malpractice. The council also reported:

- 9.75% of results withheld due to malpractice
- 22.94% of results still being processed due to technical issues
- Females outperformed males among the successful candidates.
- WAEC introduced a computer-based test (CBT) option, marking a step towards full digitization by 2026.

🚀 STEP 1: Finish Secondary School
🎯 Focus on science subjects – Math, Physics, English

🎓 STEP 2: Enroll in a Maritime Academy
⚓ Study Nautical Science (3–4 years)

🛳 STEP 3: Become a Deck Cadet
🎓 Gain sea time (minimum 12 months), work onboard vessels under supervision

📜 STEP 4: Get STCW + First Certificate of Competency (CoC)
🎯 Take OOW (Officer of the Watch) exam after sea time & mandatory courses

🧭 STEP 5: Work as 3rd Officer ➝ 2nd Officer ➝ Chief Mate
⚓ Keep upgrading sea time, rank, and skills

📚 STEP 6: Complete Chief Mate Courses + More Sea Time
⏳ Minimum: 18–24 months as Chief Mate

🎓 STEP 7: Sit for Master Mariner Certificate Exam
📜 Once passed, you're officially a Captain (Master)
