TRUTH PREVAIL: COUNTERING BASELESS CLAIMS AGAINST ACADEMY OF MEDICAL HEALTH AND EDUCATION (I).

In the worldview, to set up a business or an academic institution is to make profit. Establish, build, scale up and wait for a harvest. Very logical. The principle agrees with the concept “no return on investment no enterprises “. But to Prof Emmanuel Ode, it was a legacy project, community development, and easy access to education and a great future for his people.

Which professor of forensic economics made such an investment mistake to establish a medical institution in a village far away from the city without a good road network or internet connection? However, such a move is both strategic, selfless and futuristic in nature.

This shows clearly that the professor understands that access to medical education in rural areas enhances public safety and health promotion, improves social behavior and economic growth, fosters community health among others.

Obviously, the Academy of Medical Health and Education was not the messiah but a comforter. Ode Emmanuel University was the vision. The news of the proposed university spread across the city and villages; many welcome the idea but the few powerful people have their day. To some people, Ode Emmanuel is too young to own such an institution. Why not older professors? The second sect are the morning flower lovers, “you can open your school but not in our community---look for land elsewhere “. These two sects are not the problem at least negotiations, mediation and enlightenment can convince them but it is never the same with the third group. These are fierce men and women. A phone call was enough to make the local government chairman deny signature to the Certificate of Occupancy, believing the proposed university has the potential to kill and bury the state college of education and the newly approved annexed center of the state university in Oju LGA. This order was the stick that breaks the camel’s back. Files remain unattended until they go missing. No Ode Emmanuel University in Oju but hope never does, ambition blossoms, faith keeps growing up with the heart yearning for more.

With no place like home, the excavator left Oju township and headed to Igwoke Uwokwu. However, while work was ongoing there came a need for a takeoff campus, and Ebenta Uwokwu came to mind. Shortly, saboteurs came with their bad seeds. Fight was coming,we could see the danger looming, yet swiftly students were directed to resume at the main campus.

These agents never give up, they are very determined not to allow the school to grow; land disputes broke out and petitions were flying but for Prof Emmanuel Ode and his management team, the journey just began and more efforts are highly needed. These actions never weaken the soul yet strengthen them, not even the threats, voodoo or sponsored blackmails.

STATEMENT ON ALLEGED WITHHELD CERTIFICATE BY MR MONDAY ERU

Our attention has been drawn to “multiple” publications currently in circulation by Mr Monday Eru, where he alleged that his academic credential and that of others were withheld years after graduation.

While we acknowledge his admission, training and graduation, it is necessary to clarify the matter, as the content of his publication has been maliciously presented to tarnish the image of our college.

Firstly, Mr Monday Eru and his course mates were admitted under Ode Emmanuel Foundation scholarship scheme, hence there pay no tuition fee but registration charges of Thirty Thousand Naira ( #30,000) per candidates. This he has paid for three academic sessions covering his Diploma program only.

More so, he was admitted into Ode Emmanuel Polytechnic, our sister institution which has now moved to its permanent site. However, students admitted into the Polytechnic were allowed to continue their studies with us; former admission letters retrieved and a fresh admission letters in the name of Academy of Medical Health and Education was issued-in the view of terms and conditions of such admission at the initial.

The public should be aware that the Academy of Medical Health and Education is not a degree awarding institution. In view of this, students were asked to choose a university among list of universities for their top-up program and subsequent award of Bachelor of Nursing Science, BNSc. The choice of these institutions is based on the existing Memorandum of Understanding between Edexcel University owned by the same proprietor as Ode Emmanuel Polytechnic, Academy of Medical Health and Education respectively. Sadly, Mr Monday Eru and few others could not meet up with financial requirements to travel to any of these institutions. The college therefore, is left with no option but to apply conditions of his admission thus read “Ode Emmanuel Polytechnic reserves the right to withdraw from any student who abandoned the programme, committed an offence or given false information on his/her credentials”. In his case, he abandoned the Bachelor of Nursing Science program, no fees paid, and no institution visited. For this, the management decided to award him a Diploma in Public Health Technician which he currently has in his possession.

The views expressed here are meant to emphasize the reasons he cannot be awarded BNSc as desired, as well as our insistence to honor wordings of his admission letter and implementation of laws establishing our college, laid down guidelines by the National Board for Technical Education and other relevant education regulatory bodies.

While we refuse to admit that graduates could be used by political opposition members to marinate and bastardize the name of their alumni, aggrieved individuals are encouraged to seek information rightly, regardless of heightened emotions or sentiments.

In conclusion, the public should be aware that his certificate was not withheld as alleged. His merited Diploma certificate, professional membership certificate to practice as Public Health Practitioners are all in his custody; this he has accepted in good faith and publicly displayed on his Facebook bio.

We remain dedicated to upholding the professional best practices in education management and training, active advocate of restorative justice, alternative dispute resolution and mediation practices.

Signed
Management.

PRESS RELEASE

DIALYSIS: ACADEMY OF MEDICAL HEALTH AND EDUCATION GRANT 100% SCHOLARSHIP.

The chairman of Ode Emmanuel Group, Professor Emmanuel Ode has declared a 100% scholarship to students currently studying Dialysis Technician in the school. He maintained that the current 50% on other courses would remain but Dialysis Technician would now be tuition free.

This resolution was reached arising from the management meeting held earlier today. He stated further that this decision is in alignment with the Federal Government resolve to give 80% subsidy on kidney dialysis, reducing the cost from #50,000 to just #12,000 per session across medical institutions nationwide.

He also encouraged parents to properly guide their children in making right career choices especially for person’s with interest in healthcare to consider emerging courses in the health sector rather than flooding already densely populated professions that make job opportunities highly competitive.

In a text made available for publication, Prof Ode maintained that he is in constant communication with the Director of Institute for Medical Dialysis Studies of Nigeria to provide appropriate career mentorship and to create job opportunities for graduates upon completing their programs.

He however charged students to take their studies seriously in order to achieve their desired life goals. “This is no doubt a moment in our nation's history where many people are suffering various degrees of dialysis problems with very few capable hands ready to offer both preventive and curative help. Consider yourselves lucky to choose this course and ensure to make good use of your time while on campus,” he added.
