I got my first money in life while I was in Junior Secondary 1 as a laborer at a building site.
It was 600 naira.
Before I got hold of this money, I had carried 200 blocks up for the mason.
I was so small and yellow that people sent me home and wondered why I took such a decision but that was because I grew from an average home and we are 4 boys (lost my only sister) while I am the second and you know what happens in an average family.
If hunger was a name, my family would be called one because hunger was the order of the day then.
Taking garri was the order of the day. I mean the kind of garri you soak for long so it'll rise and be enough for the family and as boys, we'll finish it under seconds.
Cocoyam knew us as much as it was also part of our top-notch meal but we suffered it because it was always itching our mouths and áss sometimes but in all, you'll never know because we were always happy.
After I got my first money, I gave my mom 500 naira so she could cook for us while I saved 100 naira. Then, 500 naira could prepare a pot of soup manageable for the family.
I could remember her saying I'll be heard all over the world for good, that my greatness will pass down to generations and she cried while praying that for me because she couldn't stand the sight of her small son fending for the family.
I have done several jobs. I mean, several and I have knowledge of so many things and I have A1 in suffering and torture.
This continued till I left Secondary Education.
I grew up seeing myself play a fatherly role not just in the family but to many even to date.
If you're very close to me, you'll know I rarely think about myself ranging from what to eat, clothes, the latest gadgets, and what have you.
I think about another first!
So, I ensured I wasn't going to fail in life or see people suffer without any quota from me.
I have made several mistakes while in the bid for survival you know and life has taught me several lessons which molded me into who I am today.
There are so many things I don't crave even when I can afford them now because I feel there's always someone out there who needs help more than my cravings.
This is a brief of who I am and today, I can proudly tell you I am the CEO of VianceTea.
I am writing to let you know that the personality you are admiring from afar, didn't fall from Heaven neither was he born with a silver spoon. I created the spoon and I am still working on making it a silver spoon.
.And if your family is currently facing what we faced years ago, don't wait for a door to open. Create one for yourself and the good of all!
Don't wait for opportunities, go search them.
Above all, mind the association you roll with. They can either make or mar your progress in life and always be contented in the little you have till your seeds bear fruits.
