Teaching can be frustrating at times, and teachers face annoying situations in class that, when reported to another teacher, will completely make them laugh their hearts out.

I was taking a walk around the primary section of my school when my attention was drawn to a class where the teacher was teaching the students about the 3 persons in one God, the Holy Trinity. After much explanation and demonstration, she was fully convinced that each student now fully understood the whole idea of the Holy Trinity.
She then decided to ask the students some questions.
First question: God the Holy Spirit is which number in the Holy Trinity?
Pupil: Number 12.
Teacher immediately shouted: Are..... you...........ok!! 😂🤣😂

I burst into laughter in the corridor together with other teachers who overheard the answer and what followed. 😂😂🤣😂

Truly, teaching can be frustrating at times, especially when you receive such feedback. 😂😂😂

3. NEVER read for grades, grades won’t carry you beyond school. Read for knowledge, read to be empowered.

4. NEVER separate yourself from others, Make friends with all sort of people, Regardless of faith, creed, colour and knowledge.

5. NEVER allow a lecturer limit you or your ability. He is where he probably wants to be..you are not yet where you want to be..don’t allow him limit you by his words, grades or outburst.

6. NEVER look down on grades, read to have the A’s, do your best to be among the best. If C is what you can achieve with all your strength achieve it.

7. NEVER substitute religious activity for real relationship with God, participate in fellowship activities but never let it replace your personal interaction with God. Don’t be a zealot or an extremist.

8. NEVER look down on anyone, the poor guy then could be a millionaire after school, the guy who struggled to make third class might come back powerful and rich.

9. NEVER take your CGPA or graduating class as the final say on your life. Why should a cream-coloured A4 paper, signed by a Professor, produced by NSMC be a final authority on your life?

10. NEVER think people are going to treat you specially just because you are graduating with a good grade. The world out there is full of people MORE qualified than you. Work out your “salvation”. What saves you is what you can do.

MY HONEST THOUGHTS ON EDUCATION IN NIGERIA

I’ve been thinking deeply.

Not just as a teacher or trainer, but as someone who has watched this system from the trenches. From classrooms to conferences. From hope to heartbreak.

And here’s my honest truth:

🔹 1. We’re not losing teachers to better opportunities. We’re losing them to survival.

Teachers are leaving — not because they don’t love teaching, but because the system is gaslighting their commitment.

They’re underpaid. Overworked. Undervalued.

They love the learners, but the system? The system doesn’t love them back.

🔹 2. Online teaching is now a lifeline — but is it sustainable?

Teachers are doing more online. It pays better. They have more control. And yes, it feels like growth — at first.

But let’s be honest: teaching online without a long-term structure is not a business — it’s a hustle.

You can't build a legacy on hustle.

We now have teachers earning better… but building nothing.

🔹 3. We are raising teachers who can survive but not scale.

Everyone is promoting tools. Apps. Platforms.
But very few are asking: "What problem am I solving?"

We don’t need more vendors selling apps created by non-educators.
We need more creators of real solutions — people who understand the classroom and are designing from within.

🔹 4. The traditional school model is also under pressure.

👨‍👩‍👧‍👦 Parents are losing faith in organized schooling.

WAEC, NECO, and JAMB are battling exam malpractice, yet questions remain outdated.

We ask “Define photosynthesis” in a world already facing a climate emergency.

How about:

👉🏾 "How can understanding photosynthesis help solve food shortages in your community?"

We don’t need more questions.
We need more relevance.

🔹 5. The danger is not that teachers are leaving — it’s that many who remain are stuck.

😓 Stuck in fatigue
🔁 Stuck in autopilot.
🧠 Stuck in classrooms where their brilliance is wasted.
