SCHOOL HISTORY
Archbishop Heerey Technical College Ogidi, is one of the schools established by the missionaries and the first technical school to be established in the old Eastern Region of Nigeria. In 1950s, Archbishop Charles Heerey entered into a land agreement with Odida Community in Ogidi to found a secondary and technical school. After the preliminary preparations, the school was offici

ally founded in the late 1966 as Archbishop Heerey Secondary Technical School, Ogidi. Sequel to the ill-advised education policy of the military government of Eastern Nigeria, schools were forcefully taken-over by the government. This school was one of victims of the unfortunate policy. To make the take-over complete, the school was reverted to a conventional secondary school, and the name changed to Boys' Secondary School Ogidi. Fortunately, in 2011, through the intervention of the Executive Governor of Anambra State, Mr, Peter Obi (Okwute), mission schools were returned to their original owners. Boys' Secondary School, Ogidi, was one of the 'returned schools’. At the wake of the return of mission schools, the Proprietor, Most Rev. Valerian M. Okeke appointed Rev. Fr. Celestine Chigboh as the manager of the school, who exerted a great effort towards the development of the school. Under the watch of the present Manager/Priincipal, Rev. Peter Nwadimkpa (Ph.D), the College now has four (4) Technical departments namely: Electrical/Electronics, Building, Computer Craft/ICT and Creative Arts. Coding and Robotics, Entrepreneurship are among the other subjects taught to the students to equip them with requisite knowledge and skill for the 21st century. Academically, the school has continued to excel in her in internal and external examination, where most of registered candidates usually had credit pass in more than 5 subjects, including English and Mathematics.
