Don't Leave A Root of Pain or Sorrow Behind You.

I am always under the fear of being found out to have not pleased my Lord. I know the gravity of failing to deliver on divine target so, I always push myself to do my best and more. This knowledge was brightly highlighted in my spirit as I prepared for a meeting I was invited to recently. I was going to decline but I didn't know it was God's invitation to edify me. So, I was much scared seeing the fatal consequences of another man's failure as reflected in David's experience. I thus share with you one impression that won't leave me while I was preparing for the meeting.

The story is in 1Samuel 30 where Ziklag, David's domain was burnt down by the Amalekites, then making away with their wives, children and properties when David and his men were away on expedition. Like a detective, I was trying to read the pattern of this raid and the curious thing was that no killing happened. I asked, "who were the Amalekites? Why will they not kill women and children?" Then, I remembered that the Amalekites were supposed to have been totally destroyed by Saul but, he proved to be inept. Now, the Amalekites males that escaped from Saul are all out looking for wives and slaves. They won't mind taking some other men's wives and daughters as wives then turn the rest females and males to slaves!

Now, I need you to see that all this was a function of Saul's failure to deliver on divine target. He won't carry out God's instruction with precision because of popular opinion, love for fleeting material benefit and sheer underrating of the importance and seriousness of divine instruction and interest in the matter. His nonchalance and carefree attitude about God's instruction had grave repercussion even in his life time as we find it in David's experience.

Has God asked you to do something, do it with precision. Be sure you cross every Ts and dot every Is. Don't fail to do it, for you may be making life difficult for another person in your lifetime or long after you're gone. Don't let succeeding generations curse you for your failure to deliver on divine target. Don't live in a way that your children will say "Daddy, if you had done this thing when you're supposed to do it or if you had done it properly, we won't be suffering like this."

Live right. Do it right. Be thorough about it. Remember the adage, "whatever is worth doing at all is worth doing well." The wise man too said, "Whatever your hands find to do, do with all your might..." As I conclude, I urge you to leave no root of pain and suffering behind for people coming behind you.

On Eid-al-Adha

Eid-al-Adha literally translates to Celebration/Festival of Sacrifice. It centres around Abraham (Ibrahim) and his beloved son who God demanded should be sacrificed. It is the most important of celebration in Islam.

Original Islamic source (The Qur'an) says this beloved son was Ishmael. The Christian Bible claims it was Isaac (Ishaq). Which of the two narration is right is not our preoccupation here today but the hidden message of the experience for Abraham (Ibrahim), the beloved son and the rest of us.

For Abraham (Ibrahim), God wants us to love Him over other things/persons not in words but in action too.

For the beloved son, God owns him and cares for him more than his father. Also, God can do with him as He pleases.

For us: Nothing should fill our hearts like God. Nothing should be too much to give to God. God has the final say over our life.

The biggest lesson here is this; the beloved son on that day could go home alive with His father because a divine substitution was in a ram found for him. Similarly, our only hope to make it home to Heaven (Aljanah Firdaus) is in the substitutionary sacrifice of Christ on the cross. Outside this, we are hopeless and lost.

HAPPY NEW MONTH, MAY YOUR APRIL BE FULL OF TESTIMONIES THAN COMPLAINS.

Before you ask God for anything else endeavour to thank Him for everything you already possess. Don't become an ingrate in your pursuit of satisfaction, learn to appreciate the one who constantly supply you with oxygen for life and undeserved love for living. Be Grateful!

Look around you, there is someone better than you but there are several worse off than you. Imagine the number of people who wish to be in your shoes.

Even if the year is not rossy yet, be grateful for hope, only the living hopes for a better tomorrow.

The months may not be productive as you planned, but be thankful that you have seeds in the ground, in due season, heaven will pour rain, your seeds will germinate and you will harvest more than enough.

The days may not be bright enough, at least appreciate the One who keeps the sun up above to shine he may as well hit it downward to you for grumbling.

If you understand what it means for God to deal with a world full of people with needs like you, you will wake up everyday and say "thank you Father for always having me in mind"

Are you grateful that God has brought you thus far? Take a moment to say "THANK YOU GOD" and share this post with others that heaven may receive more thanks from earth today.

2 Timothy 2
8 Fix this picture firmly in your mind: Jesus, descended from the line of David, raised from the dead. It's what you've heard from me all along.

9 It's what I'm sitting in jail for right now - but God's Word isn't in jail! (MSG)

Sometimes between 64-67 A.D, Apostle Paul was in prison at Rome for preaching that Jesus died and rose from his death. That was his central message. It was not a Good News for the Jewish Authority and it was a Strange News to the Gentile World. Paul arduously continued preaching the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ in spite of the hardships and persecution it earned him. Why will he so labour when no apparent material benefit accrues to him? I suppose he must be convinced that it's the truth worth sharing.

About 6 centuries later, Prophet Muhammad (saw), presented a revelation from God (called Allah in Arabic), that Jesus didn't die because He (God) replaced him with another man who He made to look like Jesus in the Jewish sight.

Then, we wonder where the Arabian prophet got this revelation and whether it was the Christian God that did give him the revelation. This is because even Jesus appeared to the 11 disciples along with some others for more than three times. Thomas had the privilege to touch his wounds while others look on. At the Ascension Hill, over 400 disciples gathered to see Jesus defy gravity as he rose into glory.

It baffles the Christian mind when Prophet Muhammad and Muslim Ummah claim that Jesus didn't die. Even the Jews never denied his death because it happened in their full glare having their approval. Their fathers know he did rise but chose to believe a lie.

Back to Pauline counsel to Timothy and you by extension, "Fix this picture firmly in your mind: Jesus, descended from the line of David, raised from the dead." There's a huge blessing for us in the affirmation of his resurrection. He's gone into the heavens to make a place for us. He lives to make intercession for us before the Father.
