The Den Africa is coming live in a few weeks!
Our conversation started a couple of months ago in a bid to create a high impact collaborative project for the African innovation ecosystem. It is said widely that hubs hold the key to extending innovation and technology, especially across Africa.
However, the reality is that most innovation hubs and their proprietors feel alone, resourceless and at the mercy of pressing nascent and difficult ecosystems. Figuring out a working business model for hubs is usually a priority, the speed at which they get operational to validate their offerings and become sustainable is a critical success factor.
Being operational for most hubs starts by testing, running flexible programs and adjusting them to the dynamic responses of their respective ecosystems in which they evolve and get the job done.
To do so, providing an open source, dynamic and affordable platform for them to run will surely alleviate the herculean challenges that hubs face by reducing failure rate in an ecosystem where hundreds of hubs suffered from the pandemic with no little or no funding support.
Therefore our project (The Den Africa - https://den.africa), inspired by the Ubuntu Spirit, is a software portal that offers an online program management platform for innovation hubs specifically designed by Africans for African incubators, accelerators and innovation hubs.
This is how The Den Africa concept came to life, a work in progress that we at Centre d'innovation de Lubumbashi (Cinolu) and Roar Nigeria Hub are excited about.
