🌟 Keynote Speaker Announcement 🌟
We are delighted to announce the keynote talk of Prof. Linda Adhiambo Oucho, Executive Director of the African Migration and Development Policy Centre (AMADPOC) and part-time Professor at the Migration Policy Centre, European University Institute, as a Keynote Speaker at the upcoming GAPs Return Migration Conference.
In her keynote lecture entitled “East, West, Is Home Truly Best? Navigating Identity, Aspiration and Reintegration of Return Migrants”, Prof. Oucho will examine the complex and often non-linear realities of return migration. Her talk explores how desires for home coexist with fears of reintegration, and how return is rarely final or settled. Drawing on African and global perspectives, she will reflect on how contemporary mobility reshapes meanings of home and belonging, and what this implies for more responsive and grounded return governance.
🎓 Prof. Oucho is Executive Director of AMADPOC in Nairobi and part-time Professor at the EUI’s Migration Policy Centre in Florence. She recently served as a Scholar of Excellence under Canada’s CERC program at Toronto Metropolitan University. She holds a PhD in Ethnic Relations from the University of Warwick, with a focus on African women’s migration agency. Her research spans migration governance, labour migration, regional integration, free movement in Africa, irregular migration, and forced displacement.
