DE GREAT MODEL SCHOOLS FRUIT DAY
It’s a privilege to stand before you today as we reflect on what De Great Model Schools Abata Nsugbe, Anambra State truly represents.
This school is not just a building or a collection of classrooms. It is, and must remain, the citadel of learning— a place where knowledge is not stored in books alone, but transformed into reality. Our mission is clear: to take what we learn and turn it into skills, character, and solutions that empower the younger generation to become problem solvers, innovators, and leaders of tomorrow.
Now, let me bring us to something practical that connects directly to this mission — fruits.
Fruits have become one of the most essential classes of food in our diet. And for good reason. They strengthen our immune system, supply our bodies with high-quality vitamins and minerals, aid digestion, and help protect us from illness. In short, fruits keep us healthy, active, and ready to learn.
But here’s the question I want us to think about: If fruits do so much for the body, how much more should we invest in nourishing the mind?
That is why, at The Great Model School, we do not treat learning as a routine exercise. We are intentional about teaching our students and pupils not only _what_ to know, but _why_ it matters. Whether it’s science, language, or health education like the importance of fruits, our goal is to make sure every child understands the value behind what they learn.
Because when a child understands the “why,” learning becomes personal. It becomes something they can apply at home, in their community, and in their future careers. That is how we raise problem solvers — not just students who memorize, but young people who can think, analyze, and act.
So today, as we celebrate learning and growth, let us commit to two things:
First, to take care of our bodies by embracing healthy habits like eating fruits daily.
Second, to take care of our minds by embracing knowledge with curiosity and purpose.
Because a healthy body carries a sharp mind, and a sharp mind builds a better future.
