According to reports by Daily Post Nigeria , former Anambra State governor and 2027 presidential hopeful Peter Obi said he would not tolerate any form of criminality if elected President of Nigeria.
Speaking during an interview on Trust TV, Obi described the fuel subsidy system as "organized crime" and questioned Nigeria's fuel consumption figures.
He said:
"Subsidy is organized crime and I won't allow any form of criminality as the President of Nigeria."
Obi compared Nigeria's fuel usage with Pakistan's, arguing that the numbers being reported in Nigeria do not add up.
According to him:
"We are about the same size as Pakistan. They have more roads and probably the same number of vehicles or even more, yet their fuel consumption is a third of ours. So who is drinking the balance?"
The former Labour Party presidential candidate said there is clear evidence showing that corruption and manipulation exist in the fuel subsidy system. He maintained that his administration would focus on ending corruption, waste, and inefficiency in government.
Obi has consistently criticized the fuel subsidy regime over the years, describing it as a system that benefits a few individuals while ordinary Nigerians continue to suffer.
The statement comes as political conversations ahead of the 2027 presidential election continue to grow across Nigeria.

All of the policemen involved have been dismissed and are to be tried for murder.
Serious investigation should be made because the confidence at which he shot that guy shows that it's not his first time of doing such.

A U.S. lawmaker, Riley Moore, has accused Nigeria's President, Bola Ahmed Tinubu, of spending millions of dollars to lobby (influence) U.S. lawmakers.
According to him, instead of spending that kind of money abroad, the Nigerian government should focus more on solving the security problems happening in the country.
He said there are still ongoing killings in some parts of Nigeria, especially affecting Christian communities, and believes the government is not doing enough to stop it.
Moore is now calling on the U.S. government to pay more attention to what is happening in Nigeria and to hold leaders accountable.
On the other hand, the Nigerian government has always said it is working to tackle insecurity, including terrorism, banditry, and communal clashes across the country.
The situation remains a serious concern, with different people having different opinions on how well the government is handling it.
