*EXAMINATION MALPRACTICE, PARENT FACTOR*
A lot had been said about examination malpractice and itās many numerous negative consequences , the latest is an essay titled āthe cry of university lecturers"
*Lecturers are bitterly complaining that the students that were admitted with distinctions in relevant subjects donāt understand the basis of those subjects*e.g a student with A1 in English language can not write a formal letter , a student with A1 in mathematics can not solve a simple fraction.
They become an headache to lecturers and eventually get frustrated , devastated and confused. Some eventually got rusticated, some others join bad gangs and cults.
Yes , some teachers, school owners, examination officers and even some schools, non teaching staff like security etc are all guilty of examination malpractice and our campaign is that they should all desist because examination malpractice is an ill wind that will only bring ruin. But the emphasis in this essay is on the Parental Factor.
Some Parents had taken to malicious ways to ensure their wards succeed in WAEC examinations. ( To them
Itās a way of expressing love for their children) The Parents are the ones that bribe the teachers, invigilators and even some school owners to help achieve back door success for their wards.
*The latest trend now is withdrawing of their wards from an upright school in SS2 to enrol in miracle Centre schools for WAEC EXAMS where they are promised 8 distinctions*.
Of course it cost a fortune to enrol in these miracle centers and the Parents pay with joy. Perhaps to prove to their wards that they love them .
*This is definitely a misplaced love , the love that will catapult into devastating future for the child, the Parent and the nation.*
Itās true some Parents act out of ignorance and that is why this piece is for the purpose of enlightenment.
The knowledge is 100% more important than the certificate because the certificate will eventually become useless without the knowledge , in fact itās like a piece of paper without prerequisite knowledge.
*My dear Parents, itās okay for your child to repeat a class , itās okay to retake waec, itās okay to retake jamb. This is not advocating for failure, this is saying itās okay to fall and rise but examination malpractice should not be an option.*
Imagine a medical doctor that got his certificate through examination malpractice in charge of your life on your sick bed , A teacher that got his certificate through examination malpractice in charge of your children education , a lawyer that got his certificate through examination malpractice in charge of your case in a life and death situation. I can go on and on but a word is said to be enough for the wise.
This is a gentle appeal to all Parents to either stop being an initiator or collaborator on examination malpractice. Ensure your wards attend quality schools, acquire necessary knowledge, prepare well and pass examinations on merit alone.
This is the only way to guarantee their future and your future.
