WHY IS IT IMPORTANT TO BE IN STATE OF PURIFICATION BEFORE HANDLING THE HOLY QUR'AN?

Handling the Holy Qur'an requires a state of purification as a mark of respect and reverence for the sacred text. This practice is rooted in Islamic teachings, emphasizing the purity of body and soul when engaging with the Quran. Several Quranic verses highlight the importance of cleanliness and purity in relation to the Quran:

1. **Surah Al-Waqi'ah, 56:79**: "None touch it except the purified." This verse is often interpreted to mean that only those who are in a state of ritual purity (by performing ablution or ghusl) should touch the Quran.

2. **Surah Al-Baqarah, 2:222**: "Indeed, Allah loves those who are constantly repentant and loves those who purify themselves." This verse highlights the importance of purification and cleanliness in the sight of Allah.

3. **Surah Al-Muddaththir, 74:4-5**: "And your clothing purify. And uncleanliness avoid." This verse emphasizes the need for physical cleanliness when approaching the Quran.

5. **Surah Al-Fatihah, 1:5-6**: "Guide us to the straight path - the path of those upon whom You have bestowed favor, not of those who have evoked [Your] anger or of those who are astray." This verse is often interpreted to mean that one should seek guidance and avoid actions that would evoke Allah's displeasure, which could include approaching the Quran without proper purification.
