You no dey wear glasses before, but now you don add am to your khimaar or your dressing style. Come closer, this message is also for you.

As a Muslim female, when you want to dress, your dressing should not be for adornment or beautification in front of non-mahram men. A woman should not beautify herself in a way that will make strange men look at her twice. Fear Allah always.

I am not talking about those who genuinely have eye problems and need glasses for medical reasons. But some sisters wear certain glasses mainly for fashion and beautification. If it is for beautification, then avoid wearing it outside in public places. Wear it in your father’s house or among your mahrams if you wish.

This still falls under the saying of Allah:

﴿وَلَا يُبْدِينَ زِينَتَهُنَّ﴾

“And they should not display their adornment.”

May Allah guide every one of us, forgive our shortcomings, and make us among those who obey Him sincerely.

A reminder 👇🏿👇🏿👇🏿

Sisters, Dress Properly

‎Allah says in the Qur’an:

‎“O Prophet, tell your wives and your daughters and the women of the believers to bring down over themselves their outer garments. That is more suitable so that they will be recognized and not abused. And Allah is Ever-Forgiving, Most Merciful.”

‎The Jilbab mentioned in this verse means that a Muslim woman should cover her entire body properly. The body of a woman should not be exposed or outlined in a way that attracts attention.

‎The reason I am making this post is because Eid is around the corner, and during this time we begin to see many different styles of dressing. My sincere advice to our sisters is: fear Allah in the way you dress.

‎Islam has set conditions for the clothing of a Muslim woman:

‎1. The khimaar or jilbab must cover the whole body.

‎2. It must not be tight, so that it does not show the shape of the body.

‎3. It must not be transparent.

‎4. It should not be flashy or attractive in a way that draws attention.

‎5. It should be simple and modest, not designed to beautify in front of non-mahram men.

‎Nowadays we see many styles being called “khimaar”, but in reality they do not fulfill the conditions of the khimaar. Some are designed in ways that still reveal the body shape, and some are very decorative.

‎A true khimaar should be:

‎Loose

‎Plain

‎Covering from the head downwards

‎Free from flashy designs

‎Our goal as Muslim women should not be to follow fashion, but to follow what pleases Allah.

‎May Allah guide our sisters to what is correct, beautify them with modesty, and protect them from every form of harm.

‎May Allah safeguard us all.

‎Sister, keep your adornment to yourself.

‎ ‎If you know you will post your henna again this Eid for non-mahrams to see, then refrain from it.

‎ ‎As a believing woman, adornments such as henna, beautification, and other forms of زينة are not meant to be displayed publicly before strange men. The ones permitted to see such are your mahrams and other women within the limits of the Shari’ah.
‎ ‎Allah says:

‎ “And let them not display their adornment except what ordinarily appears thereof.”
— Qur’an 24:31

‎ ‎Nowadays, some people decorate themselves and then upload it openly on social media for thousands of non-mahrams to view, like, and admire. A believer should fear Allah concerning what they expose publicly. Not everything should be posted online.

‎ ‎Modesty is part of faith, and protecting one’s beauty from unnecessary exposure is from the dignity and honour Allah gave to a Muslim woman.

‎ ‎This reminder is not to insult anyone, but to remind ourselves first and foremost that obedience to Allah is greater than seeking attention or validation online.

‎ ‎May Allah guide us, forgive our shortcomings, and make us among those who hear reminders and follow the best of them. Ameen.

This morning, while I was on my way to Subh, a verse came to my mind, and I started pondering over it. The verse is from Sūratul Ḥijr:

‎قال الله تعالى: قال و من يقنط من رحمة ربه إلا الضالين
‎"He said, 'And who despairs of the mercy of his Lord except for those who are astray?'"

‎Abu al-Anbiyā’ (father of the prophets) realized the mercy of his Lord after being reminded, and he said:

‎"Who would despair of the mercy of their Lord except those who are lost?"

‎This means that despair only comes to those who turn away from Allah and do not recognize His greatness. Nothing can limit Allah; He does whatever He wills.

‎As Muslims, we must never despair of Allah’s mercy. If you are asking Allah for something, do not say, “Allah will not answer me.” If you have disobeyed Allah and are seeking forgiveness, do not say, “Allah will not forgive me.”

‎Allah says in Sūrat Az-Zumar:

‎قل يا عبادي الذين أسرفوا على أنفسهم ، لا تقنطوا من رحمة الله
‎"Say - O Messenger, to My servants who have gone beyond the limit against themselves by committing sins: Do not despair of Allah’s mercy and forgiveness."

‎Allah forgives all sins for those who repent. He is forgiving towards the sins of those who turn back to Him and merciful towards them.

‎Remember: No matter how many mistakes you have made, as long as you sincerely return to Allah, hope is never lost. Allah’s mercy is greater than your sins.
