October; Breast cancer.awareness month. Ladies, endeavor to get your breast examined. Early detection can save your life.
October 2016, I started a campaign against breast cancer.
A decision I made after my breast cancer diagnosis in 2014. It was a scary but courageous decision to share my experience on the social media, TV, Radio, Newspapers and the blogs.
This was at a time when a lot of women in Nigeria were ashamed to talk about their private parts, it was at a time when a lot of diagnosed patients would not want to stay in Nigeria for treatment, it was at a time when it was strongly believed that once you are diagnosed of cancer, you have your death certificate, it was at a time when just only one Radiotherapy machine out of the 8 Linear accelerators (Radiotherapy machine) was working, it was at a time when LUTH had the only one working in the whole of Nigeria and every diagnosed patient came to Lagos to get treatment, it was at a time when this machine would breakdown due to too much usage every other month while patients were still waiting or queueing for their turns, it was at a time when if you were diagnosed HER2 positive (a category of breast cancer) you need not only think about death but the debt you and your family would be plunged into as a dose of your drug which will be taken every 3 weeks for 18 months was 1million naira per dose asides from other treatments like Chemotherapy, Radiotherapy and Surgeries, it was a time when there was practically no cancer treatment facilities for breast cancer patients in Nigeria.
It is evident, our advocacy, effort of the NGOs, Doctors treating cancer,
It is now evident, our advocacy, effort of the NGOs, Doctors treating cancer, Care-givers and Humanitarians is not in vain.
We Thank God that the story is different today, the cancer treatment centers have improved today in terms of equipment, we are not yet where we ought to be but we have definitely gone far above where we were.
Breast Cancer Awareness Month (BCAM) is marked every October world-wide, it's a campaign to raise awareness for this causes.
Around the world, Research reports that a woman is diagnosed with breast cancer every two minutes. Innovations in research, surgical options and clinical trials give women many more options. With early detection, a woman's survival rate goes up. That's why breast self examination is important.

A Tribute to late Mrs J. O. Olatunji.
(Ex-Principal MCSS)
First our teacher, our confidant, our first guide, our principal. To the world, you might have been one person but to us you were our mum.
Mummy, you did not build houses, factories or palaces but you built some of us, Landers.
Mummy, you may not have left millions behind in your bank account but you left behind your teachings which you impacted into us and enduring legacies worth much more than millions.
Who could dispute that you were a Godly and virtuous mother? Who does not know of your famed patience and enduring spirit with us the students you tutored? You were a godly mother. You not only taught us the way of the Lord, you also led me in the way by your examples. You taught us to love the Lord, pray, study the Bible, and be committed to fellowship. What more could we ask for?
You were forever teaching us virtues, you rammed into our head that “A stich in time saves nine”. “As you lay your bed, so you lie on it”. We learnt from you “To make hay while the sun shines”, you carried the motto of our dear school LOVE AND SERVICE gallantly.
Dear Mrs Olatunji, you nurtured our potentials immensely. You developed our love for reading and passion for academic excellence.
Dear Mrs Olatunji, we will forever cherish those moments we shared with you. But while we mourn your departure, we wonder to ourselves, “So it is true!” in our heart, we are assured and comforted by the good news that you are now resting with your Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ the King whose vicarious death has secured eternal life for all who believe in Him.
Dear Mrs Olatunji, Maryland will never forget you, your marks and footprints will never be erased.
Goodnight, goodbye, au-revoir, odaro, kachifoo, Mrs Olatunji, we love you but God loves you more, rest in the bossom of your God but do not sleep, continue to watch over the biological children you left behind, May God grant them, the fortitude to bear your irreparable loss. great principal of our dear school, MARYLAND COMPREHENSIVE SECONDARY SCHOOL.

Dupe Taylor Akinbolu, if I was asked, I will say you lived a fulfilled life. Though it may be short, but not wasted. Beautiful diva you were, till the end. Your face still remains the same from secondary school, as pretty as always (Maryland Comprehensive Secondary School). You married a handsome husband whom you always praise in most of your post, blessed with beautiful children, good work and Facebook shows you had good remarkable fun life with your family. I guess that must be the way you have always wanted it. Family was topmost priority for you than several unnecessary friendship. Thumbs up girl!.
Rest in Peace, Dupe.
So sad, so sudden, so soon.
May God grant ur family and friends, D fortitude 2 bear D irreparable loss.
You fought a good fight, and you won. You are with the angels, now an angel too. Do not forget the children you left behind. I pray they grow to become what you wish for them. You played your God given destiny, and you bowed out graciously. We love you but God loves you more.
