One of the biggest productivity traps is believing you need to feel motivated before you start.
You don't.
Sometimes, motivation comes after you begin.
Think about exercise. You don't always feel like getting up and working out. But once you put on your shoes, take the first step, and get moving, continuing becomes much easier.
The same thing applies to almost anything you keep postponing.
Don't tell yourself, "I'll do it when I feel motivated."
Tell yourself, "I'll start for just five minutes."
Five minutes of writing. Five minutes of cleaning. Five minutes of learning a skill. Five minutes of working on that idea you've been postponing.
You might stop after five minutes.
But chances are, once you've started, you'll want to keep going.
Don't wait for motivation. Create .
