BENUE DIGITAL INFRASTRUCTURE COMPANY TO DRIVE DIGITIZATION OF BENUE STATE HEALTHCARE SYSTEM
The Benue Digital Infrastructure Company PLC (BDIC) has announced its commitment to providing the necessary expertise and digital infrastructure for the successful implementation of the Benue State Unified Health and Medical Record Management Information System, also known as the Benue E-Health Portal. This system will streamline the operations and management of patient and medical service data across public and private health institutions in the state.
The Managing Director of BDIC, Mr. Terwase Gbande , made this known on Monday during a sensitization and working visit to the State Hospitals Management Board. He led a team of BDIC staff to engage the board on the company's plan to digitize the management and operations of its activities in all 22 general hospitals, addressing the pressing need for digital medical infrastructure within the board.
Mr. Terwase Gbande emphasized BDIC's readiness to provide cutting-edge digital solutions to the board, ensuring seamless management of patient records, drug administration, personnel audits, revenue tracking, and financial management. "Our goal is to bridge the digital gap in the state's healthcare sector, ensuring that all medical data is efficiently managed and easily accessible to healthcare providers, ultimately improving patient care and service delivery," he stated.
In response, the Executive Secretary of the Hospitals Management Board, Doctor Mathew Onoja, lauded BDIC’s plan to digitize the board's operations, calling it a “timely and innovative development” that will revolutionize how patient cases are managed, regardless of location. Dr. Onoja expressed his optimism that the new system will not only ease monitoring and supervision of the board’s activities but also help curb revenue leakages. He assured BDIC of the board’s maximum support in realizing this initiative.
During the visit, other management staff of the board engaged the BDIC team with various questions about the new system, all of which were addressed satisfactorily by the BDIC representatives.
This partnership marks a significant milestone in the digitization of healthcare services in Benue State, aligning with the state's vision to improve the quality and efficiency of healthcare delivery.
