EXECUTIVE CHAIRMAN BENUE SUBEB INAUGURATES STEERING COMMITTEES FOR PROJECT BRACE-UP AND SPORTS

Makurdi, April 14, 2026

The Executive Chairman of the Benue State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB), Dr. Grace Adagba, has inaugurated Steering Committees for Project BRACE-UP (Building Rights to Access and Compulsory Education for Un-enrolled Pupils) and the State Basic School Sports Initiative at the Board’s Headquarters in Makurdi.

The two committees, both chaired by the Director of Monitoring and Evaluation, Comr. Patricia Gbuuga, are tasked with driving the successful implementation of the initiatives. While Project BRACE-UP is designed to tackle the challenge of out-of-school children through aggressive enrollment and mainstreaming strategies, the sports committee will implement sporting activities in all basic schools in the state.

The membership of the Project BRACE-UP Steering Committee includes Comr. Patricia Gbuuga as Chairman; Mrs Emmanuella Akese (Secretary); Comr. Kingsley Ingyuran (Director, Social Mobilization); Msughter Ataigbough (PRO); and Mr. Innocent Ikanni (Data Analyst).
Similarly, the State Basic School Sports Steering Committee is composed of Comr. Patricia Gbuuga as Chairman; Msughter Ataigbough (Organising Secretary); Mrs Esther Unande (Director Academic Services); while Mr. Tarbee Jude, Mr. Bufu Gabriel (Rep. Zone A); Coach Aikor Shagba (Rep. Zone B); and Mr. Kabiru El Ibrahim (Rep.Zone C) are members.

Charging members at the inauguration, Dr. Adagba emphasised the imperative of diligence, inclusivity, and strategic coordination, urging the committees to be thorough in their assignments and to engage all critical stakeholders to ensure the success of both interventions.

In their separate remarks, Comr. Patricia Gbuuga and Mrs. Esther Unande, expressed profound appreciation for the visionary leadership of the Executive Chairman and pledged their unalloyed commitment to delivering on the mandates of the committees.

EXECUTIVE CHAIRMAN BENUE SUBEB ATTENDS GESA U AMO COMPETITION, BACKS WOMEN MOBILISATION IN VANDEIKYA

Vandeikya, April 11, 2026

The Executive Chairman of the Benue State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB), Dr. Grace Adagba, attended the GESA U AMO (singing competition)
and the launch of the Divine Consensus Mothers organised by Divine Consensus for Alia in collaboration with Vandeikya APC Elders Forum. The two-day event, held from April 10–11 at the Vandeikya township stadium, featured 28 contestants and spotlighted emerging talents in Tiv folkloric music, while reinforcing community-driven support for the transformative vision of His Excellency, Rev. Fr. Dr. Hyacinth Iormem Alia.

Declaring the event open, the Chairman of Makurdi Local Government, Hon. Joseph Keffi, represented by his Deputy, Hon. Maxwell Adoo, lauded the initiative as a commendable and timely approach towards amplifying the far-reaching achievements of the Governor, which continue to resonate across the state.
In a similar vein, the Chairlady of the occasion, Mrs. Patricia Goja, Managing Director of Novus Microfinance Bank, praised the Governor’s strides in women and youth empowerment. She highlighted the impact of the Novus Bank loan scheme in improving farmers’ livelihoods and urged more women to take advantage of the administration’s programmes for their advancement.

In his address, the Guest Speaker, Hon. Dr. Dennis Akura commended Divine Consensus for Alia and the APC Elders Forum, Vandeikya, for their foresight and cultural sensitivity, describing the initiative as both timely and transformative. He noted that by promoting indigenous music and grassroots participation, Dr. Adagba continues to exemplify the ideals of the Governor Hyacinth Iormem Alia led administration in fostering inclusive development. He further emphasised that folkloric traditions remain great instruments of communication and social orientation, capable of advancing Tivland.

The APC Woman Leader, Hon. Mrs. Helen Agaigbe, who formally launched the Divine Consensus Mothers, described the platform as a strategic vehicle for mobilising women at the grassroot in support of sustained progress under the Alia-led government. Other dignitaries present included the Hon. Joseph Kwaghgba, Chairman of the Benue State Internal Revenue Service; Elder Iorpuu Baaki, Chairman of the APC Elders Forum, Vandeikya; Hon. Felix Ukange, Chairman APC Vandeikya; Hon. Emmanuel Shimawua, Member representing Kyan State Constituency; Chief Mrs. Dorathy Mato (Pendatyo u Tiv); Hon. Mrs. Mnena Zugu, APC State Deputy Woman Leader; Hon. Moses Bende, Benue APC Youth Leader; support groups among others.

Presenting prizes to the outstanding performers, the Chief of Staff to the Executive Governor, Barr. Moses Atagher conveyed the goodwill of the Governor and commended Dr. Grace Adagba for advancing the administration’s vision through impactful educational and cultural initiatives. Japan clinched the grand prize, while Isaac Ahen and Jasper Iorshen secured second and third positions respectively, as other participants also received cash consolation prizes. He urged the contestants to continue using their talents to promote the transformative achievements of the Gov. Alia administration across Benue State.

EXECUTIVE CHAIRMAN BENUE SUBEB PARTICIPATES IN NATIONAL ABEP REVIEW DIALOGUE, URGES INTENSIFIED STATE-LEVEL ADVOCACY

Abuja -April 9, 2026

The Executive Chairman of the Benue State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB), Dr. Grace Adagba, today joined policymakers, development partners, and education stakeholders across Nigeria at the National Stakeholders’ Dialogue on the Review of the Accelerated Basic Education Programme (ABEP) Curriculum convened by the Nigerian Educational Research and Development Council (NERDC) in collaboration with TaRL Africa Nigeria, in Abuja.

Speaking during the high-level stakeholders dialogue, Dr. Adagba stressed the transformative potential of ABEP as a strategic pathway for integrating over-age and out-of-school learners into the formal education system. She emphasized that further phases of the programme’s success depend on improved advocacy at the state level to deepen awareness, strengthen ownership, and drive coordinated implementation across sub-national governments.

She further noted that Benue State is already aligning with the objectives of ABEP through the recently launched Project BRACE-UP (Building Rights to Access and Compulsory Education for Un-enrolled Pupils) by the Benue State Government targeted at tackling the menace of out-of-school children in the state.

This stakeholders dialogue remains the Federal Ministry of Education's efforts towards building shared understanding and strengthening ownership of the ABEP curriculum review process across federal and state layers of basic education.

BENUE SUBEB BOSS ATTENDS JECHIRA DAY, ADVOCATES AGRO-INDUSTRIALISATION AND EMPOWERMENT; RECEIVES ILLUSTRIOUS DAUGHTER AWARD

Vandeikya – April 7, 2026

The Executive Chairman of the Benue State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB), Dr. Grace Adagba, on Monday attended the maiden edition of Jechira Day held in Vandeikya, Benue State, where she canvassed a deliberate shift toward agro-industrialization, alongside strategic investments in youth and women empowerment as critical levers for sustainable development in Jechira land.

Addressing a cross-section of stakeholders on Monday during the roundtable discussion on the topic, “Unlocking the Economic Potential of Jechira: Pathways to Prosperity,” Dr. Adagba underscored the urgent need to transition from subsistence agriculture to agro-industrial value chains, particularly highlighting the untapped citrus economy of Konshisha as a viable gateway to industrial growth, employment generation, and revenue diversification.

The two-day event, which spanned April 6–7, 2026, attracted a distinguished array of Jechira sons and daughters, including the Executive Governor of Benue State, His Excellency, Rev. Fr. Dr. Hyacinth Iormem Alia. Speaking at the grand finale on Tuesday, the Governor commended the Jechira Development Association under the leader of Prof. Vitalis Akase, for the revival of the cultural event, describing it as a timely intervention in fostering unity and progress. He noted the vast human and natural endowments inherent in Jechira land and pledged the State Government’s continued support for agricultural advancement, particularly through the distribution of fertilizers to farmers in the current farming season.

In a moment of honour and recognition, the Executive Chairman, Dr. Grace Adagba was conferred with the prestigious award of Illustrious Daughter of Jechira in acknowledgement of her remarkable contributions to the revival and advancement of basic education in Benue State. She received the award alongside other distinguished sons of Jechira, including Chief Solomon Iorpev, Prof. Sylvester Lyam, Chief Edward Ashiekaa, Emmanuel Tor Yaji, and Barr. Stephen Akpehe, among others further underscoring a collective commitment to the growth and transformation of Jechira land.

Other dignitaries present at the grand finale included Sen. Dr. Gabriel Suswam; Chief Mrs Grace Ashi Wende, Tor Jechira , HRH, Engr. Edward Ujege, Ter Kunav, Chief Nyiyongu Achiaku, Acting Ter Kyôr, Chief Emmanuel Akpoghol, Prof. Gabriel Akume, Chief David Iorwashima Amoh, Rev. Fr. Chief Emmanuel Doki, Hon. Dennis Guda, Chairman Vandeikya, as well as other JECHIRA clergy, academics, professionals and traditional rulers among others.

BENUE SUBEB BOSS FELICITATES CHRISTIANS AT EASTER, CALLS FOR RENEWED HOPE IN BASIC EDUCATION

Makurdi - April 5, 2026

As Christians across the world mark the 2026 Easter celebration, the Executive Chairman of the Benue State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB), Dr. Grace Adagba has extended warm greetings to the people of Benue State and Christian faithful across the globe.

In a goodwill message to mark the celebration, Dr. Adagba described the season as a great reminder of salvation for all mankind drawn from the sacrifice of Jesus Christ, as it symbolises victory over evil and vice.

Highlighting the spiritual significance of the resurrection of Jesus Christ, the Executive Chairman called on all to draw inspiration from the season's message of restoration and new beginnings, to awaken not only their faith, but their commitment to advancing quality Basic Education in Benue State. "As we celebrate, let us also renew our collective resolve to advance the cause of quality and accessible basic education across Benue State. With fortified hope and shared responsibility, we shall continue to strengthen our systems..." she said.

Dr. Adagba further expressed optimism that the resurrection power of Easter would bring about unity, peace and progress in the State.
