Vice Chancellor Borno State University Congratulates Newly Promoted FRSC Officers.

The Vice Chancellor of Borno State University, Professor Babagana Gutti, has congratulated officers and marshals of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) on their recent promotion to the rank of Deputy Corps Commandants.

Professor Gutti, who was the Special Guest of Honour at the decoration ceremony of eleven of the officers, expressed pride in their achievements and emphasized that promotions come with added responsibilities.

He therefore charged them to remain committed to their duties, uphold discipline, and continue to serve with integrity and dedication.

He further encouraged them to learn from their senior colleagues and strive to always do the needful in the discharge of their duties.

The Vice Chancellor thanked the Sector Commandant for the invitation and commended the FRSC for its continued role of ensuring road safety and orderliness in the country.

VC Commends NUBOSS BOSU Chapter for Successful Program

The Vice-Chancellor of Borno State University, Professor Babagana Gutti, has commended the President of the National Union of Borno State Students (NUBOSS), BOSU Chapter, Comrade Usman M. Bukar for fostering unity among students.

Professor Gutti made this known during his opening remarks at the event, where he praised the efforts of the union in bringing students together.

He described NUBOSS BOSU Chapter as a “visionary union”, noting that its activities reflect a strong commitment to academic excellence, unity, and student empowerment.

NIPR Borno State Chapter Pays Advocacy Visit to BOSU Vice-Chancellor

The Nigerian Institute of Public Relations (NIPR), Borno State Chapter, has paid an advocacy and familiarisation visit to the Vice-Chancellor of Borno State University (BOSU), Professor Babagana Gutti.

Leading the delegation, the Chairman of the Chapter, Umar Mohammed Tijani, said the visit was to congratulate the Vice-Chancellor on his appointment as the second substantive Vice-Chancellor of the university and to familiarise the institute with the academic community. He said the Borno State Chapter of NIPR was revived earlier this year, and the visit marks its first advocacy engagement.

“Vice-Chancellor Sir, it is widely acknowledged across the state that you have repositioned BOSU, particularly through your commitment to digital transformation, which has placed the institution on a strong and progressive footing,” Tijani stated.

The chairman solicited the Vice-Chancellor’s support in furnishing the NIPR office with digital facilities, particularly solar power and internet connectivity. He also informed the Vice-Chancellor that NIPR would host its National Conference Week in Kaduna early next year and appealed for the university’s assistance with buses to convey delegates to the event.

In his response, Professor Babagana Gutti warmly welcomed the delegation, expressing delight at seeing some of his staff among the visitors. He used the forum to congratulate the newly appointed General Manager of Borno Radio Television (BRTV) Ali Maman Shuwa who was part of the delegation.

Professor Gutti reaffirmed the university’s commitment to collaboration, stressing that" BOSU belongs to everyone in the spirit of Town and Gown and therefore is always open to partnerships that will advance our mandate. Public Relations is a very important institution therefore, I assure you of maximum cooperation to achieve your goals,” he said.

The Vice-Chancellor promised to provide internet facilities to the NIPR office, while urging the chapter to put its other requests into writing for further consideration.

The climax of the visit was the formal induction of the Vice-Chancellor as a member of the NIPR Borno State Chapter, followed by a group photograph.

BOSU Delegation Congratulates Acting Vice-Chancellor of Al-Ansar University and Commissioner for Environment

The Deputy Vice Vice-Chancellor Administration) of Borno State University (BOSU), Professor Shettima Bulama Mustapha, on Thursday, led a high-powered delegation to Al-Ansar University to congratulate its Acting Vice-Chancellor, Professor Fanna Inna Abdurahman, on her recent appointment.

In his remarks, Professor Shettima Mustapha who represented the Vice Chancellor Professor Babagana Gutti, described the appointment of Professor Fanna—former Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Central Administration) at BOSU—as well-deserved.

He noted that her dedication, excellence in academia, and commitment to hard work made her elevation unsurprising.

“On behalf of the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Babagana Gutti, who was unavoidably absent and the entire BOSU community, we congratulate you on this milestone. BOSU is proud of you, and we pray for your continued success in this new role and beyond,” he said.

Responding, Professor Fanna expressed gratitude to the BOSU leadership for the thoughtful visit. She said she was deeply honored and overwhelmed by the show of solidarity from her former colleagues.

She further commended the efforts of BOSU’s Deputy Vice-Chancellors and urged them to sustain their hard work. Professor Fanna also called on all members of both institutions to continue to support and pray for one another, emphasizing the importance of unity and collaboration for greater institutional success.

The delegation also paid a similar visit to the new Commissioner for the Environment, Engineer Mohammed Habib in his office at the Musa Usman Secretariat.

Professor Mustapha Bulama Shetima extolled the leadership qualities and legacy of the Commissioner while at BOSU and expressed optimism that he will bring to bear that expertise in his ministry.

The Commissioner Engineer Mohammed Habib, thanked the delegation and the Vice Chancellor Professor Babagana Gutti for identifying with him and for his support and cooperation while he was the Director of Works Physical Planning and Development at BOSU and assured that he will not let BOSU down. He said "my doors remain open at any time for consultation and advice as I am still part and percil of the University".

Among the delegation were the Deputy Vice Chancellor Academics, Professor Shuaibu Garba Ngulde, Directors and Units head amongst others.

Concerned Citizens of Njimtilo Community Pay Courtesy Call on BOSU Vice-Chancellor

The Chairman of the Concerned Citizens of Njimtilo Community, Mr. Luqman Yusuf, has led a delegation on a courtesy visit to the Vice-Chancellor of Borno State University (BOSU), Professor Babagana Gutti.

Speaking during the visit, Mr. Luqman congratulated the Vice-Chancellor and expressed the community’s gratitude for the employment opportunities given to their less privileged members as securities personnel and cleaners in the university.

He commended the Vice-Chancellor for his community-friendly leadership and urged him to sustain the gesture.

Mr. Luqman also appealed for more support in the area of education, noting that many children in Njimtilo do not value formal education, while their schools are faced with shortages of teachers and classroom furniture.

He therefore called on the Vice-Chancellor to use his good office to support and encourage enrolment of children into schools, stressing that education is key to community development.

In his response, Professor Gutti warmly welcomed the delegation and assured them of his continued support. He emphasized that security, education, and economic empowerment remain key priorities for any community and pledged to contribute towards addressing Njimtilo’s challenges.

The Vice-Chancellor further promised to liaise with the education secretary to strengthen schools in the area and to discuss with the Executive Governor the possibility of establishing another school in Njimtilo. He also encouraged parents to prioritize the education of their children, stressing that ignorance was one of the root causes of insurgency.

Professor Gutti revealed plans to support the community with solar boreholes for schools and improved teaching staff, alongside measures to boost security within the area.

He urged continuous collaboration between the university and the community for sustainable development.

FGC Maiduguri Old Boys Association Pays Courtesy Visit to BOSU Vice-Chancellor

Members of Old Boys Association, Federal Government College (FGC) Maiduguri have paid a congratulatory visit to the Vice-Chancellor of Borno State University (BOSU), Professor Babagana Gutti.

The delegation, led by the National President of the association, Alhaji Waziri Shettima Kidaji, and the Chairman of the Board of Trustees (BOT), Professor Abba Gambo, described the appointment of Professor Gutti as a proud moment for their Alma Mater given his elevation to one of the highest positions in the academic sector.

Professor Abba Gambo congratulated the Vice-Chancellor on behalf of the National and State executives of the association. He also commended the Executive Governor of Borno State, Professor Babagana Umara Zulum, for appointing a well-deserving personality to lead the institution. He expressed confidence that Professor Gutti would deliver nothing short of excellence during his tenure.

Professor Gambo further praised the Vice-Chancellor’s management team for their commitment and dedication to the growth of the university and extended an invitation to Professor Gutti to attend the upcoming Old Boys Association meeting, as a proud member of their Alma Mater.

In his response, Professor Gutti warmly welcomed his fellow old boys and expressed delight at reuniting with them. He thanked the FGC Maiduguri Old Boys Association for the courtesy visit and assured them of his continuous support.

The Vice-Chancellor promised to participate actively in the association’s activities, pledging his availability whenever called upon.

Governor Zulum Inaugurates Second BOSU Governing Council.

Borno State Governor, Professor Babagana Umara Zulum, has inaugurated the second Governing Council of Borno State University (BOSU), with Alhaji Muhammadu Indimi as Chairman for the second time.

The inauguration ceremony was held at the Council Chamber of the Government House.

In his remarks, Governor Zulum described the Governing Council as the legal custodian of the university’s destiny, entrusted with the responsibility of providing strategic direction, ensuring high standards of academic excellence, and safeguarding the welfare of both staff and students.

He congratulated the newly inaugurated members, stressing that their selection was not by chance but based on integrity, past experience, and a demonstrable passion for education and community development.

The Governor acknowledged the contributions of the Pro-Chancellor and other council members over the past four years, noting their strong support for the growth of the university.

Professor Zulum on behalf of the Borno State Government and the university community, expressed appreciation for their dedicated Service to the state.

Governor Zulum highlighted the remarkable progress of BOSU, which began four years ago with only three hundred students but now has a population of over 10,000 and commended the council chairman and members for their efforts, while reminding them of the significant challenges ahead.

He tasked them to promote rigorous research, innovative teaching, and a curriculum that responds to the realities of post-insurgency recovery and sustainable development.

He further urged them to manage the university’s resources with transparency and accountability, while working closely with the management to maintain a serene and conducive environment for learning and intellectual engagement, which aligns with the state government’s commitment to curbing social vices.

He called on the council to strengthen partnerships with industries, as well as academic institutions locally and internationally, in order to attract resources, expertise, and global best practices to BOSU.

"The inauguration is coming at a time when this administration is making massive investments in the education sector with about one hundred and thirty six institutions spread across the state.

I therefore urged management, staff, and students of the university to fully cooperate with the new governing council, as their success is our success, and our collective success is the success of the government and the entire people of the state.”says the
Governor.

He commended the efforts of Professor Emeritus Abubakar Mustapha and Professor Shettima Umara Bulakarima for their remarkable contributions to the growth and stability of the university.

In his brief acceptance remarks, the Pro-Chancellor and Chairman of Council, Alhaji (DR) Muhammadu Indimi assured the Governor that, with the caliber of people on the council, they would justify confidence reposed in them.

"In sha Allah, you will see changes in two years"says the Business Mogul and education philanthropist.

Other members of the second BOSU Governing Council are the Vice Chancellor Professor Babagana Gutti, DVC Central Administration Professor Shettima Mustapha Bulama, DVC Academics Professor Shuaibu Garba Ngulde, the Registrar and Secretary of the council Mrs Jallaba M. Sheikh.

BOSU Vice-Chancellor Pays Courtesy Visit on Pro-Chancellor and Chairman of Governing Council, Alhaji (Dr.) Muhammadu Indimi.

The Vice-Chancellor Borno State University, Professor Babagana Gutti, on Friday led a high-powered delegation on a courtesy visit to the Pro-Chancellor and Chairman Governing Council of Borno State University, Alhaji (Dr.) Muhammadu Indimi, in his office.

The delegation included members of the University Management, Professor Emeritus Abubakar Mustapha, Professor Shettima Umara Bulakarima, representative of the Ministry of Education, and other members representing the Council.

Professor Gutti said they were at the Pro-Chancellor’s office to congratulate him on his numerous achievements in life, as well as to extend warm felicitations on the occasion of his birthday.

He also introduced the new Deputy Vice-Chancellors and all members of the Governing Council, noting that this visit was to formally present the council members to the Chairman ahead of their official inauguration by His Excellency on Monday.

In his response, the Pro-Chancellor and Chairman of the Governing Council, Alhaji (Dr.) Muhammadu Indimi, warmly welcomed the Vice-Chancellor and his team.

He expressed delight with the visit, recalling with joy his four years of service and partnership with the institution.

Dr. Indimi commended Professor Emeritus Abubakar Mustapha and Professor Shettima Umara Bulakarima for their tireless contributions to the progress of the university and pledged to personally contribute his qouter towards the development of the Kashim Ibrahim Teaching Hospital, with a vision of making it one of the best teaching hospitals in Nigeria, thereby reducing the need for medical tourism abroad.

The Pro-Chancellor concluded with prayers for the continued growth and success of Borno State University and its Teaching Hospital.
