Prof Abba-Aji from Borno Appointed CMD Alberta Hospital Canada



PROF ADAM ABBA-AJI from Borno State Nigeria has been appointed the Chief Medical Director (CMD) of the prestigious Alberta Hospital, Edmonton, Canada.

Prof. Adam Abba-aji is a brother to the former Senator of Borno Central Sen. Mohammed Abba-aji.

The Alberta Hospital was established in 1923, it will be 100 years old by next year. It has also trained millions of Doctors in almost a century.

He is a professor of Psychiatric who has been practicing in Canada for the past 20 years.

Professor Abba-Aji obtained his MBBS from the University of Maiduguri, Nigeria. He is a Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians & Surgeons, Canada; Fellow Royal College of Psychiatrists, U.K; Fellow of the American Psychiatric Association and Fellow of the Royal Society of Medicine, UK.

He has Master’s degrees in Neuroscience from the University of Maastricht, Netherlands; and also a Masters of Business Administration in Healthcare Management from the Smurfit Graduate School of Business, Dublin.

Prior to this appointment Prof. Abba-Aji was the Medical Lead for the Integrated Youth Services Initiative in Addiction & Mental Health in Edmonton, the Zone Facility Site Chief, Addiction Mental Health, at the University of Alberta Hospital; and, the Associate Chair of Psychiatry, Clinical Affairs, with the Faculty of Medicine and Dentistry.

He has numerous awards, recognitions, and over 70 peer reviewed publications and book chapters.

Abba-Aji is the first African to be appointed to this role.

Alberta Hospital Edmonton is the largest Teaching Hospital for addiction and mental health in the Western Canada. The Facility is affiliated to the University of Alberta, one of the top 5 Universities in Canada and ranked #135 best Universities in the world.

Subsidy: Gov. Zulum Commissioned 70 Mass Transit Vehicles, Restaurant, and a Lodge at Borno Express Taminus.

In his continued efforts to cushion the effects of the fuel subsidy removal, the Borno state government procured 70 buses to ride within the Maiduguri metropolis, 30 were allocated to civil servants to be released to the civil servants to transport while 40 for the general public.

The buses will charge passengers at a subsidized rate and will ride within the township of Maiduguri

The Governor directed the Borno Express cooperation to put in a maintenance mechanism to allow the vehicles to last longer.

He equally assured the good people of the state his commitment to improving their welfare.

The people of Kanem-Bornu(Kanuri Empire) were good in rotating capitals from time to time, unlike other African Ancient Empires that have their capitals standing for over 500 years, in Kanem-Bornu one cannot find Kanem-Bornu capital that remained a capital for over 400 years.

Maiduguri: Zulum opens tunnel-like underpass bridge

Borno State Governor, Babagana Umara Zulum, on Friday, commissioned an underpass bridge built like a tunnel for pedestrian road-crossing while vehicles drive on top of the bridge.

The project was constructed around the famous Gamboru market in Maiduguri.

At the commissioning, Governor Zulum said construction of the underpass was due to risks involved with pedestrian crossing of the highway.

Zulum, since 2019, executed over 700 physical projects, among which is Borno’s first flyover and roads, over 20,000 newly built and rehabilitated houses used to resettle IDPs and refugees, over 20 mega-size schools, over 200 healthcare centres, among other projects aimed at implementing his administration’s urban renewal policy.

Secretary to the State Government, Malam Bukar Tijjani, Head of Service, Barrister Mallam Fannami, some commissioners, advisers, permanent secretaries and other government officials attended the commissioning at a brief ceremony.

Kanuri people under this category includes the Kanuri people of Lafiyan Barebari in Nasarawa state, who were able to only keep the tribal marks and some few Kanuri names and traditional titles and titles names as their heritage without speaking
the oral Kanuri language, plus other Kanuris living in Diaspora in distant places like Khartoum

The Kanuri people (Kanouri, Kanowri, also Yerwa, Baribari and several subgroup names) are an African ethnic group living largely in the lands of the former Kanem and Bornu Empires in Niger, Nigeria, Sudan, Libya and Cameroon.[2] Those generally termed Kanuri include several subgroups and dialect groups, some of whom identify as distinct from the Kanuri. Most trace their origins to ruling lineages of the medieval Kanem-Bornu Empire, and its client states or provinces. In contrast to the neighboring Toubou or Zaghawa pastoralists, Kanuri groups have traditionally been sedentary, engaging in farming, fishing the Chad Basin, trade, and salt processing.[3]

He is best known for his Muqaddimah (Prolegomena), the first book of his world history that won him an immortal place among historians, sociologists, and philosophers.

Ibn Khaldun also spent nearly two months in the company of Timur, the founder of the Timurid Empire who treated him with respect.

The scholar used his years of accumulated knowledge and wisdom.

He is generally considered the greatest Arab historian as well as the father of sociology and the science of history.
