COURT OF CONDUCT BUREAU VISITS KIU FOR SENSITISATION AWARENESS ON ASSET DECLARATION.
The Code of Conduct Bureau (CCB), Maiduguri Branch, paid a sensitisation and awareness visit to Kashim Ibrahim University (KIU) aimed at enlightening staff members of the institution on the importance of asset declaration in the public service.
Speaking during the sensitisation programme, the Assistant Chief Superintendent of the Bureau, Ahmed Alhaji Gana, said the purpose of their visit was to create awareness among members of staff on the constitutional requirement and importance of asset declaration for all public and civil servants.
Ahmed Alhaji Gana explained that asset declaration is mandatory for every public servant as stipulated by the Code of Conduct Bureau and Tribunal Act.
He noted that public officers are expected to declare their assets upon assumption of office, at the end of every four years in service, and upon leaving office.
He further stressed that the exercise promotes transparency, accountability, integrity, and good governance in public institutions, adding that compliance with asset declaration regulations helps in strengthening ethical standards within the civil service.
The CCB official urged members of staff of the University to take the exercise seriously and ensure that the forms are properly filled and submitted within the stipulated period to avoid sanctions for non-compliance.
In his response, the Vice-Chancellor of Kashim Ibrahim University, Professor Babagana Gutti, warmly welcomed the delegation from the Code of Conduct Bureau and appreciated them for organising the sensitisation programme for the University community.
Professor Gutti assured the Bureau of the University Management’s full cooperation and support in ensuring compliance with the asset declaration process. He commended the Bureau for its efforts in promoting accountability and ethical conduct among public servants.
The Vice-Chancellor also directed all members of staff of the University to obtain, complete, and submit the asset declaration forms within the stipulated time, stressing that compliance with government regulations remains a collective responsibility of all staff members.
