PHYSICAL VERIFICATION EXERCISE AT FGGC MONGUNO;
The Borno State Education Trust Fund (BSETF), under its Special Intervention Programme, successfully carried out a physical verification of students at Federal Government Girls’ College (FGGC), Monguno for the 1st Term of the 2025/2026 Academic Session.
This exercise is part of the Trust Fund's ongoing commitment to transparency, accountability, and ensuring that educational interventions reach the right beneficiaries. Through this initiative, the Fund continues to support access to quality education and the welfare of students across Borno State.

Borno State ETF Holds Bilateral Budget Discussion with Borno State House of Assembly;
The Executive Secretary of the Borno State Education Trust Fund (BSTEF), Hon. (Dr) Maina Yaumi, alongside his Directors and senior management staff, earlier today honored an invitation to a Bilateral Discussion on the 2026 Budget Proposal and a review of the 2025 Budget with the House Standing Committee on Education, Science, Technology and Innovation of the Borno State House of Assembly.
The Executive Secretary was accompanied by Abba Kurama Umar (Director, Planning, Research and Statistics – DPRS), Mohammed Idris (Director, Administration and Supplies – DAS), Ya Maira A. Liman (Chief Accountant), Abubakar Mustapha (Cashier), and Haruna A. Mohammed (ICT Officer).
The bilateral session was held under the chairmanship of Hon. Engr. Mohammed Gambomi Marte, Chairman of the House Standing Committee on Education, Science, Technology and Innovation, as part of the legislative process for the 2026 budget.
The engagement followed the presentation of the 2026 Appropriation Bill, tagged “Budget of Sustained Recovery and Growth,” by the Executive Governor of Borno State, His Excellency, Prof. Babagana Umara Zulum, CON, mni, FNSE, to the Borno State House of Assembly on Monday, 29th December 2025.
The meeting provided an opportunity for BSTEF to present its budget performance, outline priority interventions in the education sector, and engage constructively with lawmakers to ensure effective planning, accountability, and improved educational development across Borno State.

Hon. (Dr) Maina Yaumi Delivers Keynote Address at FGGC Monguno Annual General Meeting & 30th Anniversary, Receives Award of Excellence;
The Executive Secretary of the Borno State Education Trust Fund (ETF), Hon. (Dr) Maina Yaumi, has delivered a keynote address at the Annual General Meeting of the Federal Government Girls’ College (FGGC) Monguno Old Students Association, held in conjunction with the 30th Anniversary Celebration of the school on 30th December 2025 at Elkanemi Hall, University of Maiduguri, Borno State.
The historic event was graced by the presence of His Excellency, Prof. Babagana Umara Zulum, mni, FNSE, CON, the Executive Governor of Borno State, who was ably presented by Her Excellency, Engr. Dr. Habiba Babagana Umara Zulum, Wife of the Executive Governor and an alumna of FGGC Monguno; Senior Government Officials, Education Stakeholders, old students, and members of the press.
In his address, Hon. (Dr) Maina Yaumi highlighted the unwavering commitment of the Borno State Government under the visionary leadership of Governor Zulum to ensuring access to education for orphans and vulnerable children, particularly the girl-child affected by insurgency. He emphasized that education remains a critical tool for rebuilding Borno State socially, economically, and morally.
He recalled the relocation of FGGC Monguno to Maiduguri in 2014 due to insecurity and commended the State Government for providing a befitting, state-of-the-art learning environment and sustained scholarship support through the Education Trust Fund.
Hon. (Dr) Yaumi disclosed that since the enrolment of 800 orphans and vulnerable out-of-school girls in the 2020/2021 academic session, the Borno State Education Trust Fund has cumulatively expended ₦486,072,962.25 on tuition and related educational costs. He further announced that in the 2025/2026 academic session, 286 students are currently in their final year, reaffirming the government’s continued commitment to their education.
He also revealed that Governor Zulum recently approved additional scholarships for pupils transitioning from Aliko Dangote (Orphans) Model Primary School to Muhammadu Buhari Academy Boarding Mega School, as well as students progressing to FGGC Monguno, further strengthening the education pipeline for vulnerable children.
As part of activities marking the anniversary, Hon. (Dr) Yaumi commended the school management, staff, parents, and the Old Students Association for sustaining the legacy of FGGC Monguno over three decades, describing the institution as a symbol of resilience, hope, and excellence despite years of insecurity.

At the conclusion of the event, Hon. (Dr) Maina Yaumi was presented with an Award of Excellence in recognition of his outstanding contributions, selfless service, and unwavering commitment to the growth, development, and advancement of Federal Government Girls’ College Monguno. The award reflects his instrumental role in championing educational access and sustained scholarship support for hundreds of girls through the Borno State Education Trust Fund.

GOV. ZULUM IN DAMASAK, REAFFIRMS SECURITY-FIRST AGENDA, SALUTES TROOPS’ GALLANTRY
Borno State Governor, Babagana Umara Zulum, on Tuesday arrived Damasak, the headquarters of Mobbar Local Government Area, in a high-impact visit that underscored his administration’s unflinching commitment to security, stability, and post-conflict recovery across the state.
The governor was warmly received by the Chairman of Mobbar Local Government, Mohammed Aji, alongside top government officials, traditional leaders, and key community stakeholders which reflected both unity of purpose and renewed confidence in governance.
On arrival, Governor Zulum was accorded a guard of honour by troops of the Nigerian Army’s 5 Brigade Damasak, a ceremonial gesture that set the tone for a visit focused on frontline realities and strategic reassurance.
The Brigade Commander, R.O. Agbi, welcomed the governor before the two held a brief closed-door meeting, believed to have centred on operational updates, welfare, and consolidation of recent security gains.
Speaking after the engagement, Governor Zulum paid glowing tribute to the troops for what he described as their “exceptional doggedness and gallantry” in safeguarding lives and communities in the axis. He reaffirmed that security remains the cornerstone of his administration’s agenda, stressing that peace is the indispensable foundation upon which development, investment, and social renewal are built.
“Where there is no peace, development cannot thrive,” the governor said. “Our priority is to sustain security so that communities can rebuild, children can return to school, farmers can return to their fields, and commerce can flourish.”
Governor Zulum further assured the officers and men of the brigade of his government’s readiness to continually boost morale through improved support, logistics, and welfare, measures he said are critical to sustaining momentum and achieving the shared goal of ending insurgency in the state.

Hon (Dr) Maina Yaumi @ 12th World Innovation Summit for Education (WISE 12) at Doha, Qatar.
The Executive Secretary of Borno State Education Trust Fund, Hon (Dr) Maina Yaumi was at the 12th World Innovation Summit for Education that took place on 24th - 25th November 2025.
The event which brought World Leaders, Education Administrators and Critical Education Stakeholders from about 200 countries shared ideas and sought for creative solutions to solve challenges facing education across the Globe and dwelled more on Human Values at the Heart of Education - Humanity.io.
During the summit, Hon(Dr) Maina Yaumi met with the Chief Executive Officer of Education Above All, Mohammed Al-Kubaisi and discussed on the potential areas of collaboration between Education Above All and Borno State Education Trust Fund (Borno State Government) in the areas of Out-Of-School Children, the Almajiri/Sangaya System and strengthening of Bilingual Education for improved learning outcomes in Borno State.
Hon (Dr) Maina Yaumi equally met with the representatives of Qatar Foundation and Qatar Fund for Development and sought for support to improve learning outcomes in Borno State.
Those in attendance in Nigeria include Nigeria’s First Lady, Her Excellency, Sen Oluremi Tinubu, Honourable Minister of Education, Dr Maruf Tunji Alausa, Pro Chancellors of Federal Universities in Nigeria, Nigerians in Diaspora living in Qatar and others Education Stakeholders.

HON. (DR) MAINA YAUMI FELICITATES WITH NIGERIANS ON 65TH INDEPENDENCE ANNIVERSARY 🇳🇬
The Executive Secretary (ES) Borno State Education Trust Fund (BSETF) Hon. (Dr) Maina Yaumi, has joined millions of citizens in celebrating Nigeria’s 65th Independence Anniversary.
In his goodwill message, (Dr) Maina Congratulated the government and people of Nigeria for sustaining the unity of the nation despite numerous challenges. He called on Nigerians to remain steadfast, prayerful, and supportive of leaders at all levels in the collective drive towards peace, progress, and development.
He further urged the people of Borno State in particular to continue embracing unity and patriotism, stressing that nation-building is a shared responsibility.
Hon. (Dr) Maina Yaumi prayed for continued peace, stability, and prosperity for Nigeria as the nation marks this milestone of 65 years of independence.
