BRAIN TEASE: A Professor at a Nigerian University sent his phone number in a disorderly manner to his students. The disordered phone number was 64001128454.
To know his real phone number, he gave the student the following conditions:
1. Eight (8) must come between two zeros (0's).
2.The first number after the first condition is met must not be an odd number and it must be greater than 5.
3. The seventh number must be 1.
4. The fifth and sixth numbers must be two numbers whose difference is 1 and the bigger number must come first.
5. The fifth and sixth numbers are greater than 2.
6. The ninth and tenth numbers are the same.
7. The eighth number is greater than the last number.
8. The phone number must be 11 digits.

The philosophy of mathematics studies the nature of mathematical truth, mathematical proof, mathematical evidence, mathematical practice, and mathematical explanation. Three philosophical views of mathematics are widely regarded as the ‘classic’ ones. Logicism holds that mathematics is reducible to principles of pure logic. Intuitionism holds that mathematics is concerned with mental constructions and defends a revision of classical mathematics and logic. Finally, formalism is the view that much or all of mathematics is devoid of content and a purely formal study of strings of mathematical language. In recent decades, some new views have entered the fray. An important newer arrival is structuralism, which holds that mathematics is the study of abstract structures. A non-eliminative version of structuralism holds that there exist such things as abstract structures, whereas an eliminative version tries to make do with concrete objects variously structured. Nominalism denies that there are any abstract mathematical objects and tries to reconstruct classical mathematics accordingly. Fictionalism is based on the idea that, although most mathematical theorems are literally false, there is a non-literal (or fictional) sense in which assertions of them nevertheless count as correct. Mathematical naturalism urges that mathematics be taken as a sui generis discipline in good scientific standing.

All sort of backwardness in most of the sciences is as a result of taking mathematical ideas for granted... There was a time a young academics who was undergoing Masters degree in Biological Science raised an alarm in an academic meeting lamenting that he sees no point in making some mathematics courses compulsory for people in other sciences that has nothing to do with mathematics. Before he went further with his ignominious facts, I pleaded for audience to respond and I was granted the opportunity by the chairman of the panel. Firstly, I requested to know how far his academic pursuits in the field of Biology is and secondly how many research papers he has, he said he was pursuing masters in Biology, that he was on coursework and he has no academic paper yet. I pleaded with the panel to close that chapter until maybe after a year or two when we are opportune to be there again, we will ask him whether he's still with the opinion of scrapping mathematical courses for non math students. That is because he hasn't reach where the application of mathematics is in biology for him to make that request. When he starts his masters research work he will definitely get the answers to all that triggered him to asserts that math is of no importance to biology and other students that are not in math. Recently, he chatted me up that he's looking for a mathematician that can help him with some analysis, I jokingly laughed and reminded him about that scenario, he launched and said I should forget about that, he doesn't know then. So, sometimes people tend to say things out of ignorance, not knowing the importance of that thing. Nowadays, people in general have no love for math and so they will try to say all sort of things they thought are right. That's why we need to put more effort in preaching mathematics.
