A total of 205 undergraduate students bagged first-class honours as the University of Maiduguri is set to graduate 20,164 students from various academic programmes.

UNIMAID STUDENT EMERGES 3rd IN NATIONAL NUPEMCO QUIZ COMPETITION

A student of the University of Maiduguri, Amina Bello, from the Department of Zoology, has emerged third in the NUPEMCO National Quiz Competition, which featured participants from universities across Nigeria.

In recognition of her outstanding performance, the Vice-Chancellor of the University of Maiduguri, Professor Mohammed Laminu Mele, received Amina at the Muhammadu Buhari Senate Building on Monday, October 27, 2025.

Professor Mele congratulated the student for her remarkable achievement and urged her to continue striving for academic excellence. He encouraged her to represent the university at both national and international competitions. The Vice-Chancellor also reaffirmed the university’s commitment to maintaining a strong partnership with NUPEMCO in promoting academic excellence and a weldone job to the Head of Department and the entire lecturers.

Speaking during the visit, the Team Lead of NUPEMCO, Mr. Abubakar Mohammed, and the Head of Compliance, NUPEMCO, expressed appreciation to the Vice-Chancellor and the university management for their continued support and for creating an environment that encourages students to excel.

Mr. Mohammed presented a ₦200,000 cheque to Amina Bello as a reward for her performance, along with certificates, gadgets, and internet routers for both the student and the university. He also announced that NUPEMCO looks forward to appointing Amina Bello as an ambassador of NUPEMCO to inspire other students toward academic excellence.
Present at the event were Amina Bello’s parents, the Head of the Department of Zoology, and other university officials who expressed pride in her achievement and described it as a reflection of the university’s dedication to nurturing exceptional students.
