Many people celebrate what they call a “birthday,” yet in reality, what returns each year is only the date of birth, not the actual day and moment Allah brought them into this world. Time is constantly moving forward, and with every passing year, we are in fact drawing closer to our appointed end, not circling back to our beginning.
From an Islamic perspective, acts of celebration tied to religion must have clear roots in the practice of the Prophet (peace be upon him) and his companions. Since there is no authentic evidence that they marked or celebrated birthdays, introducing it as a recurring practice raises a serious question: is it an act of remembrance pleasing to Allah, or an imitation without foundation?
A believer is encouraged to reflect on time differently — not by celebrating its passing, but by accounting for how it is spent. Each year is not merely an anniversary of birth, but a reminder that life is decreasing and the meeting with Allah is approaching.
So instead of focusing on celebrations that were not part of the early generations, it is more beneficial to use such moments for gratitude, repentance, and renewed commitment to righteous deeds. That is the kind of “remembrance” that truly benefits in this life and the next.
May Almighty Allah grant us the best understanding of our religion
In case you don't know: kakistocratic government is the very worst people while kleptocratic government is the government of the thieves
Imagine combining the two in Nigeria.
Hello Nigerians, the election time has come when people run up and down in the same name of democracy.
They always claim that they have demonstracy in Africa, which is not true but I can boldly say that what they have in Africa is kakistocracy cm kleptocacy. Although, their kleptocratic nature made them a kakistocratic government especially that of Nigeria, the system is a problem on its own while the problem also has faults.
I hope I'm communicating? Should I increase the volume or should I mind my business?
The day Nigeria wakes up that is the day Africa wakes up
