16. Master bootstrapping.
You don't need all the silver to start a business/project. You do need Passion, commitment, a few pals and a consuming desire to take the next step.

17. Develop a Sterling portfolio of WOW projects.
Recall you are you project. Focus on having a portfolio of good projects. Get used to WOW! EVERY PROJECT MUST BE WOW

If your projects are not cool, You are not cool.
If your projects do no rock, You do not rock.

18. Focus.
Gain clarity of focus. Give all your attention to that one project and make it wow!
Free your mind from clutters that distract you.

19. You are your client.(1)
You are as important as the people you serve.
You are defined by your clients. Choose your client carefully.

Become a client satisfaction fanatics. Connect with your clients.
Become CARING, HELPING
Have EMPATHY

You have got to be noticably good at what you claim to do.

Your skill package must never be less than STUNNING.

BRAND YOU is a team sport.

Develop community of pals with which you can grow.

Have community of clients.

Never loose contact of your community. Reach out to them constantly and preserve the network.

Become loyal not just to your brand but to your NETWORK/ COMMUNITY.

23. You are your contacts.

You are as cool and important as the people you hangout with. Expose yourself constantly to those you want to be associated with.

24. Design Matters.
We show 'design vibe' wherever we go through clothing, hairstyle, business card, report style, presentation etc.
Give your clarity, excitement, beauty, grace and friendliness.

25. Become a 'line extension' master.

Sell Products.
Think product line.
Think of how to expand introduce new products along the same line of project.
Never focus on one project. Think of new products that can grow from what you currently do.

Alright let me help you out with some tips that can help you out.

Let me share with you the popular SQ3R method of academic reading

SQ3R stands for

S - Survey
Q - Question
R - Read
R - Recall
R - Review

Now let's examine each step of this method of effective study technique.

Survey:
This is should be the first thing to do when you pick a text book, handout or even or articles. Your task here is to get an overview of what the author is saying in the book. So start by skimming through the pages, read the introduction, topical headings/ subheadings. Read the summary of each chapter and the conclusion of the book.

Question:
This is the next step of effective reading. Formulate questions from each chapter or topic. You can do this by turning the topics into questions. For example, Topic: The stages of an effective study technique. Your questions should be "What are the stages of an effective study technique. This will keep you alert when you eventually begin reading.

Read:
Now go back and start reading. Read with alertness to answer the questions you came up with. Write notes, in your own words, under each question. Keeping notes in your own words as you read is very effective.

Recall:
This is a very important step that you must always take. Immediately after reading, take your eyes away from the book and try to visualize and reproduce in your own words, the major points from what you read. This should take more time than reading.

Review:
Now Look at your questions, answers, notes and book to see how well you did recall.

4. Take a Brand You Assessment.
Answer these questions everyday of your life.

WHAT AM I? WHAT DO I STAND FOR? HOW DO I STAND OUT?

Now to put this better, ask yourself: WHAT VALUE DO I ADD IN 30 SECONDS OR LESS?

5. Forget Job; Forget Task

Brand You is about breaking bonds and creating unmistakable Value-added "Products"(projects) for identifiable customers.

I AM MY PROJECT.
PERIOD
(This should be your mindset) You are your first product to sell to the world.

Do only cool project or die trying.
So, will the project you are working on now make a difference?

Give your life fully to your project and become a master at it. Forget Tasks and jobs.

6. Package YOURSELF.

Packaging is the temptation. It is a tool for simplifying and speeding decisions.

People by packaging. MacDonald, Mercedes, Google and others all sell packaging.

Packaging is EXPRESSED PERSONALITY.

what comes to mind when people think of you?
Untill you express aggressively what you what them to see, it won't stick to their mind.

7. "INC." YOURSELF.

say this:
I am a Company!

Learn to think independently. It does not matter if you are working for someone or not. When you look at the mirror what do you see. See a company, YOU INC. only working with a company for now!

8. Brand You INC. is about what you Value.

For Tom Peter, he values Mastery, Growth, Distinction, Wow projects, Autonomy and Self-control.

What do you Value. Now check your life.

Are you doing what you Value? Is your work about the things you really Value?

If you don't have clear values, do that now.

9. Brand You INC. requires a rich portfolio of attributes and skills.

Tom Peters gave a list of useful business skills

* TRADE SKILL.... Understand how to translate you talent into viable economic proposition.

* MARKET FOCUS .... there's got to be a customer for your project/product

*SELECT CUSTOMERS WITH CARE... you are your customers.

* MASTER BOOKKEEPING FUNDAMENTALS.

*FOCUS ON ONE BUSINESS ... But offer a variety of services associated therewith.

* UPGRADE YOUR SKILLS ... constantly

* EXPLAIN YOURSELF... in 35 words or less

*SELL YOURSELF

* Develop an emotional support system .... Friends with whom you meet regularly to discuss projects and challenges.

Beyond these skills Tom Peters emphasises that every BRAND YOU must wear the following hats ( must be very good in the following)

* The marketing hat
*The product development hat
*The operation hat
* The customers service hat
* The sales hat
* The information management hat
* The time management hat
* The planning hat

Hello friends, join me as I summarise Tom Peter's "The Brand You"

It promises to be an exciting journey as we consider his Fifty ways to transform yourself.

Alright today is day one and this summary will last for a couple of days.

1. IT'S UP TO YOU... AND YOU ALONE

The defining Brand You idea is: "They aren't in charge of your careers anymore_ and by extension your lives. YOU ARE. It is up to YOU to fashion YOURSELF.
(That's like the summary of the whole book. If you don't deliberately help yourself, nobody will)

So guys when was the last time you asked "WHAT DO I WANT".
Your BRAND YOU journey only starts when you have answers to this question.

To put it clearer, ask yourself
WHAT DO I WANT TO BE?
WHAT DO I WANT TO STAND FOR?
DOES MY WORK MATTER?
AM I MAKING A DIFFERENCE?

YES WHAT DO I WANT TO BE?

2. FINALLY ITS THE WHITE COLLAR REVOLUTION.

Tom Perters emphatically states that the end to white collar jobs has come. So he repeats 90% + of white collar Jobs will be totally reinvented/reconceived in the next decade, give or take a year or two.

WHAT NEXT: Prepare for it.
*Study about the fast disappearance of white collar jobs

*Talk with people who are successful as independent workers

*Aim high. Be optimistic that the revolution will favour you

*Position yourself for it.

3. Answer to the White Collar Revolution: BRAND YOU.

Tom Peters says his best and only answer to the White Collar Revolution is for everyone to become a brand_Brand You.

To do this you need
*Craft_ Marketable skills
*Distinction_Memorable, a brand that sticks to the mind
*Networking skills_Words of mouth collegial support.

START BY ASKING YOURSELF: IS WHAT I AM DOING RIGHT NOW CONSISTENT WITH BUILDING A BRAND, MY BRAND?

What next:
* Start by talkies to someone who has a rep in the society, someone whose name I associated with success. Ask for how?

* Keep a book and record your answers to the question "who am I? And who am I not?"

Brands aren't built in a day. Walk don't run into all these .
