𝘾𝙤𝙣𝙘𝙚𝙧𝙣𝙨 𝘼𝙗𝙤𝙪𝙩 𝙩𝙝𝙚 𝙁𝙖𝙡𝙡𝙞𝙣𝙜 𝙎𝙩𝙖𝙣𝙙𝙖𝙧𝙙 𝙤𝙛 𝙀𝙙𝙪𝙘𝙖𝙩𝙞𝙤𝙣 𝙞𝙣 𝙉𝙞𝙜𝙚𝙧𝙞𝙖

The decline in the standard of education in Nigeria is a pressing issue that requires immediate attention. The recent drop in JAMB cut-off marks for admission into higher institutions is particularly alarming. In the past, scoring less than 280 in JAMB meant you couldn't study medicine or law. But now, the bar has been lowered significantly.

This trend is dangerous because it compromises the quality of education and produces subpar graduates. If we continue down this path, we risk churning out half-baked and wishy-washy professionals who aren't equipped to excel in their fields.

I am privileged to participate in the Consortium for Africa Research Training in Africa (CARTA) sponsored Doctoral Academy of the University of Ibadan. The workshop has been incredibly resourceful and has greatly enhanced my knowledge as an academic researcher, particularly in research design, methodology, and academic writing. I've gained valuable insights into conducting rigorous research, critiquing literature, and developing a research agenda that aligns with global standards. The experience has been truly enriching, and I'm eager to apply these skills to my future research endeavours.
