Last year, in 2025, Albesta Academy stood on a continental stage and was recognized among Africaβs Top Schools.
It was not luck.
It was not coincidence.
It was the result of years of intentional teaching, disciplined learning, strong moral instruction, entrepreneurial skill training, and a commitment to raising confident, global-minded students.
Today, in 2026, that same culture of excellence continues.
In our classrooms, lessons are engaging.
In our skill studios, hands are trained.
In our assemblies, character is shaped.
In competitions, our students shine.
We are not just preparing students for exams β we are preparing them for life.
Now, a new admission season is here.
The question is simple:
Where do you want your childβs story to begin?

Albesta Academy β Where Excellence is a Lifestyle.
20/02/2026
What a truly enriching day at Albesta Academy, Lekki!
For weeks, our students prepared with dedication and enthusiasm. Every training session after school, every practice race, every cheer from teammates β all led up to todayβs remarkable Inter-House Sports celebration.
This morning, the school field came alive with colour, energy, and anticipation. Our four houses β Albert Abe House, Eunice House, J.J. Jelly House, and Pelax House β marched in proudly, ready to give their very best. From thrilling track events to engaging field activities, the spirit of healthy competition was evident in every performance.
The excitement grew as invited schools joined selected races, adding an extra layer of challenge and sportsmanship. Our dignitaries, parents, alumni, and special guests watched with admiration as our students displayed confidence, teamwork, and resilience.
One of the most heartwarming moments of the day was inviting some parents to observe closely and contribute to deciding winners based on what they saw their children demonstrate β a beautiful reflection of trust, transparency, and community partnership.
After an exciting series of events, Eunice House emerged as the overall winner. Their victory was well deserved, and we celebrate their outstanding performance.
Beyond the medals and trophies, what filled the air was joy β laughter, cheers, pride, and unity. It was not just a competition; it was a celebration of excellence, growth, and the strong bond within the Albesta family.
We sincerely appreciate our sponsors, partners, dignitaries, invited schools, parents, staff, students, and everyone who contributed to making the day a grand success.
At Albesta Academy, we do not only teach β we build character, confidence, and champions.

TONIC FOR EDUCATORS
WHAT LEARNERS WISH YOU KNEW
Last week, we talked about the diagnostic approach to teaching. In simple terms, we agreed that teaching should look less like rushing to prescribe and more like pausing to understand the learner. We said that effective teachers do not start with the lesson plan alone, but with the learner in front of them. Like good doctors, they ask questions, observe behaviour, listen carefully, and then decide how best to teach. The key message was clear: if you do not understand the learner, you may be teaching well and still not be teaching right.
This week, let us go a little deeper and, perhaps, a little more uncomfortable.
Let us talk about what learners wish you knew.
If our learners could speak freely, without fear of embarrassment, punishment, or labels, many of them would tell us things we were never trained to hear. They would say, βI am not lazy, I am only confused.β They would say, βI am not dull, I am afraid to ask questions.β They would say, βI want to learn, but the pace is too fast for my liking,β or, βI want to try, but I am tired of being laughed at when I fail.β
Some learners wish you knew that their silence is not stubbornness, but insecurity. That their distraction is not disrespect, but hunger, worry, or emotional overload. That their poor performance is not rebellion, but a silent cry for help.
They wish you knew that when you rush through a lesson just to finish the scheme of work, some of them are left behind, nodding politely while completely lost. They wish you knew that one harsh comment can undo weeks of confidence, while one kind word can spark a lifelong love for learning.
Learners also wish you knew that they notice everything. They know when a teacher has given up on them. They know when expectations are low. They know when labels have been stylishly attached to their names. Are we not sometimes guilty of these things as teachers? It is not enough to feel remorse; we must also do the right thing.
Above all, learners wish you knew that they want to be seen as humans before they are judged as students.
This is where last weekβs diagnostic approach meets this weekβs conversation. You cannot know what learners wish you knew if you have not first learned how to observe, listen, and ask the right questions. You cannot be learner focused without being empathetic. And you cannot be empathetic if you are too busy to notice.
This is a simple but urgent call to us as educators. To slow down. To look again. To listen better. To teach with both competence and compassion.
Education is not only about covering content. It is about uncovering potential.
If we change how we see our learners, we will change how they see themselves.
And that, colleagues, is how narratives change.
I hope this helps.
