REPORTS ON JUST CONCLUDED ICOSELS
Fellow students, I'd like to brief you on how the just concluded ICOSELS we attended went
It was funfilled, packed with activities. There were many loopholes as well but in all we thank God it was successful.
Our journey started on Sunday morning 14th May 2017 through the night at about 8pm. Registration was successful. Accommodation was amazing sanitation was the fault.
Few things didn't go as planned but many things were achieved. Most competitions took place. Transportation was our major problem; we had to sponsor ourselves to university of Lagos almost everyday.
One outstanding thing about the conference is that you have the opportunity to associate with students from other schools and learn many things outside the four walls of the class room and beyond our environment. The different competitions and presentations which took place was a big challenge for us to sit up and at this point you begin to ask yourself questions like: am I really an English students? Am I a creative thinker? How well can I write papers and compose poems of things happening around us? Etc Answers to this question will definitely make you sit up.
Being a good English student is beyond the name or school you attend, it's beyond GPs above 4.0.
It's more like practical. How well can you interact with new people for quite long and sustain the conversation? Can you attribute different meanings to a particular thing?...
Aside the social activities, the conference was indeed challenging.
A peaceful election was conducted and a new government emerged. How pleasant it is to see young people interested in politics. We hope for the best and a better conference next year both at regional and national level.
Friday morning was departure. We boarded luxury bus and arrived Anambra peacefully at the late hours of the night.
I urge upcoming executive to put keen interest in conferences like this as they in no small way improve our sense of reasoning and understanding.
The low turn up of students this year could be attributed to the fact that this is our first time or because there wasn't much awareness as we were still on vacation and because the Dean directed that not much students should attend. We do hope that when the mantle of leadership is given to the new executives, there will be larger turn up from students.
Make sure you get the school coaster bus while going, it will help a long way.

ICOSELS MORE THAN A CONFERENCE
National Association of Students of English and Literary Studies inform you of her 11th International conference of students of English and literary studies coming up on 14th – 20th May, 2017 at Lagos state, University of Lagos precisely. It is an un-missable one as it comprise of not less than sixty (60) tertiary institutions with about two thousand (2000) students coming together to showcase what it takes to be English students. The theme of this year’s conference is “SOCIAL REALIST OR COMPRADOR INTELLIGENTSIA: POST COLONIALISM AND IDENTITY STRUGGLE”
It is a week conference which comprise of paper presentations by different professors and Doctors from different tertiary institutions, Wole Soyinka spelling bee competition, 4TH Edition of Aic Akwarandu’s National debate competition, poetry exhibitions, oratory competition and lots more other side attractions include mask party, beach party, award/dinner night, historical site tour, old school night, sport competitions(football, volleyball, basketball etc), pageantry(brain with beauty, talent hunt and lots more.

As we commemorate the passion of Christ, lets reflect on our lives and purge ourselves from all sins.
I want to wish everyone a safe and joyous vacation and a glorious Easter in advance. Be informed that school resumes on 14th May, 2017.

This is a time to recap on your knowledge but just remember to do it in a relaxed and unstressful manner, only in this manner you will be able, to instruct your subconscious mind to bring forward the knowledge, embedded in your mind. Just do your share and God will do His part to guide you through this Stressful time.
I wish you all precedented success in your exams. Have faith in yourself that you will not disappoint yourself and be joyful of the success that awaits you.

The Expanded Management Committee, Provost, Staff and Students of Federal College of Education (Technical), Umunze cordially invite the public to her 28th /6th Joint Matriculation ceremony scheduled to hold on Saturday 18th February 2017. Venue is at the College ceremonial quadrangle permanent site. Time 12noon.
