ADMISSION PROCESSES INTO NIGERIAN DEFENCE ACADEMY.

Admission into the Nigerian Defence Academy is highly competitive. Considering the military training, coupled with the academic demands vis-a-vis the philosophy and objective of the NDA, it becomes imperative for any prospective candidate to be completely above average; if he must cope with the standard required in the Academy.
It must be borne in mind that, the NDA, being a degree awarding institution, must meet the necessary academic standards acceptable to the National Universities Commission (NUC).
Basic Minimum Requirements:
(a). He/She must be a Nigerian citizen
(b). His/She age must fall within 16-19 years at the time of entry
(c). He/She must be physically, mentally and medically fit.
(d). He/she must posses any of the following educational qualifications:
(i) WAEC with at least 5 credits in relevant subjects obtained in not more than 2 sittings.
(ii) GCE ‘O’ Level with at least 5 credits in relevant subjects obtained in not more than 2 sittings.
(e). Having obtained any of the above mentioned qualifications the candidate must then obtain and properly fill the NDA application form for the entrance examination. The availability of the form is published in at least 2 National Dallies.
All the required information in respect of the form is in the publication. Candidates are required to sit and pass the entrance examination conducted by the Academy, affter obtaining minimum University entry requirement set by JAMB. The Academic Branch is responsible for the setting and marking of the entrance examination. Candidates are required to answer questions from the General English language paper, and three other subjects of their choice from Arts and Social Sciences, Science or Engineering sections.
The examination, which is a one day exercise, takes place in eighteen state capitals of the federation and Abuja on the same day. Military and Academic staff of the NDA are dispatched to those state capitals and Abuja to supervise the conduct of the examination. At the end of the examination, successful candidates are short listed for the Armed Forces Selection Board Interview on quota basis. Awaiting results candidates are not considered for this exercise.
(f). During Armed Forces Selection Board (AFSB), two to three weeks interviews, successful candidates are made to undergo the following tests:
1. Medical
2. Physical training
3. Written test
4. Planning exercise
5. Oral interview.
