SUMMER CAMP – WEEK 4, DAY 5 ✨

SPELL-TACULAR SHOWDOWN!

What an exciting way to wrap up another wonderful week of learning, creativity, and discovery!

Today, our little stars took part in the Spell-tacular Showdown, an engaging activity designed to help them explore words and put their spelling skills to the test.

The children listened carefully, identified letters and sounds, attempted to spell simple words, and confidently participated in the challenge.

Beyond spelling, the activity helped strengthen their vocabulary, phonics awareness, listening and concentration skills, memory, and problem-solving abilities.

It was lovely to see the children encouraging one another, celebrating their efforts, and having fun while learning. Their enthusiasm and willingness to participate made the activity truly memorable.

The Spell-tacular Showdown was a beautiful way to end the week, celebrating not only what the children have learned but also their confidence, teamwork, creativity, and willingness to try new things.

What a fun and spell-tacular week it has been! We are incredibly proud of our little stars and all they accomplished this week. 🌟

DAY 4, WEEK 4

Today, the children made ADIRE..."Tie-and-Dye"!
See slides 17, 18 & 19. 😍😍 So proud!

The activity is called INDIGO ART QUEST.
With guidance from the Care Assistants, the children explored different fabric dye colours and experimented with creating unique patterns on their fabrics.

The activity provided an opportunity for the children to develop
✔️their creativity
✔️sensory awareness
✔️fine motor skills
✔️hand strength
✔️colour recognition, and
✔️ability to follow instructions.

They also practised turn-taking, sharing materials, cooperation, and teamwork as they worked alongside their friends.

Manipulating the fabric through squeezing, twisting, and folding further supported their hand-eye coordination and finger strength.

Overall, the activity was a fun and meaningful learning experience that encouraged creativity, exploration, confidence and practical learning.

DAY 3 WEEK 4.
turned into a 'mini concert hall' as our little stars took the centre stage for *Open Mic Day!* 🎤✨😀

Each child had a chance to hold the microphone and sing along to a song of their choice. And, as expected, the performances came with plenty of surprises! 😂 Some little performers were so carried away by the music that they danced their way through the entire song and completely forgot to sing.🤭

Others were more fascinated by the microphone itself, carefully peeping through the tiny holes as though they were searching for a hidden audience inside! 🤣🎤

Then we had those who were ready to impress their friends.
They started off singing beautifully, spotted a familiar face in the audience, and suddenly remembered they had an audience to entertain! 😂
Some waved, some posed, and some completely lost track of the song.🤦🏾‍♀️😁

The older children, however, came prepared for business! 😎🎤
They confidently introduced themselves, took the centre stage, and even delivered little 'pep talks', showing off their growing confidence and communication skills.
We may just have discovered a few future motivational speakers! 😂👏🏽

Beyond the laughter and adorable performances, the activity encouraged: ✔️speech and language development ✔️confidence
✔️memory
✔️listening skills
✔️self-expression
✔️social interaction
Holding and using the microphone also supported hand coordination, while dancing encouraged body movement and rhythm.

It was certainly not a 'concert' with perfect lyrics, but it was one filled with confidence, personality, laughter, and lots of little stars shining brightly! 🌟🎶💕😊😊

DAYS 1 & 2 of WEEK 4

Day 1 was all about grace, good manners, and a little bit of fidgeting as our Campers stepped into the world of etiquette! ☕🍪
From proper sitting posture to using napkins, handling cutlery, and enjoying food politely, it was a wonderful opportunity for our young Learners to practise the art of dining with grace and confidence.

Day 2 was all about money, shopping and a little bit of financial 'drama' at 💰😂🛒
Our little shoppers and cashiers stepped into the world of money as we learnt about the different denominations of the Nigerian Naira. From counting and identifying the notes to deciding what they could buy, our little Learners were ready to put their new knowledge to work.
They thoroughly enjoyed the 'Mini Mart' role play!* 🛍️

This upcoming 'Netflix' documentary is for you...yes, you mummy (don't look back)...you that will call us 75 seconds after drop-off, "Please I just want to check on him, I dropped him a 'while ago'. Is he still crying?"
No, mummy...he's not crying o, he has since moved on.
You, mummy are the one currently suffering from separation anxiety. 🤦🏾‍♀️🤭😀

Separation anxiety is that moment when your child cries, clings to you, or refuses to let you leave, EVEN when they are perfectly safe.

It is their little way of saying, “I love you, and I don’t want you to go.”

And for parents? It can be heartbreaking.
You may feel guilty, worried, or wonder if you are doing something wrong.

You’re not.
Separation anxiety is a normal part of growing up and with patience, reassurance and consistency, most children gradually learn that Mummy or Daddy always comes back.
