When I got my first period, I thought I was bleeding to death.
No one had explained what was happening just silence and shame.
Now as a mum, I choose a different path.
Before we talk about pads or cramps, I teach my kids body safety.
Because when their bodies start changing, they also become more vulnerable.
Hereâs what I teach them before every family visit:
â
No forced hugs
â
No touching private parts
â
Tell me if someone says âdonât tellâ
â
Your body, your rules.
We also practise spotting unsafe behaviour:
đŠ Secrets
đŠ Isolation
đŠ Ignoring boundaries
đŠ Bribes
This isnât about fear itâs about freedom through awareness.
Start the conversation. Your childâs first period should come with confidence, not confusion.
đ Share this with a mum, save for later, and send to the family group chat.
Your words could change a childâs life.
