AEIF Manufacturing Incubation Programme Graduates 200+ Emerging Manufacturers

​LAGOS, NIGERIA — In a major boost to Nigeria's industrial sector, over 200 emerging entrepreneurs across the Uyo and Lagos cohorts have officially graduated from the six-month Alumni Engagement Innovation Fund (AEIF) Manufacturing Incubation Programme. The graduation ceremony, themed "Empowering Youth to Build Sustainable and Compliant Businesses," was hosted at the Women Development Centre, Agege, Lagos.

​Initiated by Dr. Roberta Edu, a 2024 Mandela Washington Fellow and recipient of the U.S. Department of State AEIF grant, the programme was designed to address structural barriers in local manufacturing by equipping business owners with tools to meet regulatory requirements, maintain global quality standards, and scale processed goods for domestic and international markets.

​The ceremony featured high-level keynotes, expert masterclasses, and an industrial equipment grant showcase:

​U.S. Mission Support: Acting Consul General Julie McKay praised the alumni network's contribution to national economic expansion, highlighting the accessibility of commercial opportunities through official U.S. Mission channels and American Spaces across Nigeria.

​Regulatory Compliance: Mr. Ukpi Samuel, Assistant Director at NAFDAC, delivered an essential module on facility audit readiness, manufacturing hygiene, and documentation.

​Supply Chain Integration: Donald Nwokeji (Supply Chain Manager, Grand Products Company Limited) detailed retail buyer decision-making processes under the session “Why Good Products Get Rejected.”
​Brand Strategy: Marian (Managing Director, Dentdu Agile) led a practical workshop on brand architecture and customer retention.

​To accelerate immediate processing capacity, high-performing ventures were awarded heavy-duty industrial machinery:

The Experience Innovation Academy supports MWFAAN to Host Future Forward Mentorship Programme in Abia State
​IKWUANO, ABIA STATE — July 16, 2026: The Mandela Washington Fellowship Alumni Association of Nigeria (MWFAAN), in partnership with the Experience Innovation Academy, successfully executed the second phase of the Future Forward Mentorship Programme in Ikwuano Ariam. The event engaged students from Ikwuano Secondary School and Senior Science School in an empowering day of leadership development, cultural presentations, and skill-building.
​The programme featured key addresses from community and education leaders:
​Mrs. Nwangwa (Principal, Ikwuano Secondary School) — Welcome Address
​Mr. Tony (Executive Chairman, Ikwuano) — Special Remarks
​Senior Special Assistant to the Abia State Governor on Primary & Basic Education — Keynote Address
​Lady Irene David-Arinze, Financial Secretary of MWFAAN and Lead Coordinator for Abia State, delivered the official association remarks. The event was co-organized by James Akan, Executive Director of the Experience Innovation Academy and MWFAAN Publicity Secretary, who also facilitated an interactive masterclass on Leadership and Confidence.
​Supported by MWFAAN fellows Ebenezer Okafor, Daberechi Ekejiuba, Igwe Uhuru, and Akudo Alli, expert facilitators led sessions covering Career Discovery, The Future of Work, Communication Skills, and Personal Development.
​The initiative concluded with hands-on mentorship circles and problem-solving team challenges, where students pitched solutions to local problems. Outstanding participants were recognized with special merit packages and prizes from the organizing team.

Technical Partner Profile: USGEAAN Freedom 250 Business Summit

​The Experience Innovation Academy played a pivotal role in the successful coordination and hosting of the Freedom 250 Business Summit for Startups in Akwa Ibom State.

​The summit, hosted by the Akwa Ibom State Chapter of the U.S. Government Exchange Alumni Association of Nigeria (USGEAAN) under the leadership of Mr. Aniekeme Finbarr, served as a major milestone for the local entrepreneurial ecosystem. The Experience Innovation Academy drove the technical ex*****on of the initiative through its Executive Director, James Akan, who also serves as the USGEAAN State Chapter Secretary.

​Lending institutional expertise to the summit, the Academy curated a rigorous, needs-based curriculum and assembled a lineup of exceptional facilitators to equip emerging startups with the tools required to scale. The USGEAAN community further amplified this impact, with members stepping up as dedicated mentors and industry experts to support the next generation of entrepreneurs. Managing the overwhelming interest in the event was a herculean task; the team thoroughly reviewed hundreds of applications to select the final cohort, ensuring the highest quality of engagement within the venue's capacity.

​In his dual capacity, James Akan delivered the welcome address to open the summit and later joined a robust panel of experts to discuss strategic pathways for accessing opportunities for global impact.

​Following deeply encouraging feedback from participants, the Experience Innovation Academy and USGEAAN remain committed to this shared vision—driving continuous capacity building, fostering impactful growth, and delivering targeted training to transform Akwa Ibom's economic landscape.
