From Federal Government College Kano Old Students Association (FGCKOSA), we join millions of Nigerians at home and abroad to celebrate our freedom, our resilience, and our unity.

🎓 As a product of one of Nigeria’s prestigious Unity Schools, we understand the true meaning of nation-building through diversity.

From Kano to Calabar, Lagos to Lokoja – we were groomed in classrooms that reflected the beauty of our cultural mix, bonded by friendship and driven by excellence.

Our struggle for democracy as a nation is much more than holding elections every four years or just about voting.

It’s about raising our voices for progress, peace, freedom, justice and purpose. It's about building long lasting institutions.

It's about building a democratic nation where every Nigerian citizen enjoys equal rights, transparent governance, accountable leadership, and shared prosperity regardless of their ethnic background, religious beliefs, or economic status.

Today, we reaffirm our commitment to building a Nigeria that works for all – one alum, one cause, one future at a time.

Ask Mallam Aminu how he got his big break at the NNPC Headquarters, Abuja. It wasn't LinkedIn – it was running into his Form 3 classmate at our last reunion several years ago.

Remember Madam Ngozi who was actually struggling with her son's university admission? Her son is now studying Medicine abroad thanks to a five-minute conversation with our former head boy who used his connections during last year's AGM.

Tunde's business was on the verge of collapse until he mentioned it casually at our dinner. Today he has three outlets in Abuja, all because someone at his table knew someone who knew someone who helped fund his ideas.

Today, we celebrate the 𝗳𝘂𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗲 𝗼𝗳 𝗡𝗶𝗴𝗲𝗿𝗶𝗮 — our children. 🌟

As proud old boys and girls of 𝗙𝗲𝗱𝗲𝗿𝗮𝗹 𝗚𝗼𝘃𝗲𝗿𝗻𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗖𝗼𝗹𝗹𝗲𝗴𝗲 𝗞𝗮𝗻𝗼, we remember what it felt like to be young, full of dreams and surrounded by friends from every tribe, tongue, and background.

That’s what our Unity Schools were built for — 𝘁𝗼 𝗿𝗮𝗶𝘀𝗲 𝗮 𝗴𝗲𝗻𝗲𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗼𝗳 𝗡𝗶𝗴𝗲𝗿𝗶𝗮𝗻𝘀 𝘄𝗵𝗼 𝘀𝗲𝗲 𝘀𝘁𝗿𝗲𝗻𝗴𝘁𝗵 𝗶𝗻 𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗱𝗶𝗳𝗳𝗲𝗿𝗲𝗻𝗰𝗲𝘀 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗯𝗲𝗮𝘂𝘁𝘆 𝗶𝗻 𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗱𝗶𝘃𝗲𝗿𝘀𝗶𝘁𝘆.

We may be grown now, but we still carry those lessons from the classroom, the dining hall, the assembly ground, and even the dormitories:

👉 Respect every culture.
👉 Speak every language with love.
👉 Protect the unity that holds us all together.

So today, we say:

To every child out there — dream big, live boldly, and grow up knowing that 𝗡𝗶𝗴𝗲𝗿𝗶𝗮 𝗯𝗲𝗹𝗼𝗻𝗴𝘀 𝘁𝗼 𝘆𝗼𝘂.

This is FGC KANO – where we once wore the same uniform for a whole term! Where we survived Kano heat in those thick blue-checked Sunday uniforms! Where your fashion sense was judged by how you folded your sleeves, not by what Italian designer you wore!

So come in jeans if you want.
Come in kaftan if you prefer.
Come in t-shirt and shorts if that's your latest vibe.

Just bring your original self – the one we all knew before life added all these fancy layers and titles.

That grey hair you've been dying every month? Trust me, half of your classmates could already be completely grey but wearing their "wisdom crown" with pride.

That pot belly you've been sucking in for photos? It's the same one your class captain has named and now introduces as his "prosperity pouch."

Still comparing bank accounts and achievements? While you're wondering if your Toyota is "good enough," your former bunk mate with the Range Rover is admiring how you've managed to raise three wonderful children.

We ALL left FGC Kano with different paths to walk.

Some climbed corporate ladders.
Some built businesses from scratch.

Some raised amazing families.
Some traveled the world.

Some have fought battles nobody knows about.
Some of us are still figuring life out.

And NONE of that changes who we were to each other when we shared those dusty classrooms, begged for quartz and sugar to eat our watery beans, hustle for pap and akara to rushing for our tuwo masara every other weekend!

Our AGM isn't a competition or an inspection. It's our annual homecoming. The only thing that truly matters is that bond formed over midnight gists, shared provisions, and collective punishments.

That unique connection that makes us instantly recognize "our own" anywhere in the world. That hasn't changed. That WILL never change.

So come as you are. We're waiting to see YOU, not your achievements.

Can you even believe it?

This isn't just another reunion, my people. This is quarter of a century of EXCELLENCE. When they talk about the most influential FGC Kano set in history, they're talking about US!

From that first day we walked through those gates in our oversized uniforms, scared but determined, to now—running companies, leading ministries, raising families and conquering the national and global stage!

This AGM could be the one we'll gossip about for years to come. The one where attendance will be bragging rights. "I was there" will become a badge of honor among our sets.

Don't be that one person watching Instagram stories from your bed, typing "Wish I was there 😢" while eating cold noodles.

Don't be the name everyone keeps asking about only to hear "They couldn't make it."

Be PRESENT. Not just in the WhatsApp group. Not just in the contributions. Not just in spirit.

Be there in PERSON.

Because 25 years from now, when we're celebrating our golden jubilee, the stories from THIS reunion will be the ones we'll still be laughing about.

This is where the REAL decisions that will affect our alma mater for the next two years will be made. The leadership we elect will determine:

👉 Whether our scholarship fund for bright but struggling FGC Kano students continues

👉 If our dilapidated science laboratory and many other projects finally gets that renovation we've been discussing since 2019

👉 How we'll work with USOSA as a body to respond to government policies affecting Unity Schools

👉 Whether our mentorship programs for current students expands or eventually fizzles out
