The second recipient of the inaugural Solomon Ogunsakin Scholarship is Joseph Olayemi Oladiji. Joseph is a student of Industrial Chemistry at Ekiti State University, Ekiti State, Nigeria. He will receive an annual sum of 50,000 Naira for four years (2021-2025). The first batch was disbursed in 2021. Join us as we say congratulations to Joseph!

Staying true to our firm commitment of “expanding the frontiers of education” in Nigeria, FULSAN is happy to offer the Solomon Ogunsakin Scholarship. A partnership between FULSAN and its former President, Tolulope Akinwole, the scholarship aims to support Nigerian university students who show need of financial assistance and are of good academic standing. The first of two inaugural recipients of the Solomon Ogunsakin Scholarship is Oluwaseun Ogunnaike, a Law student at Olabisi Onabanjo University, Ogun State, Nigeria. Oluwaseun will receive an annual sum of 50,000 Naira for four years of their university education (2021-2025). The first batch was disbursed in 2021. Join us as we say congratulations to Oluwaseun!

FULSAN is excited to spotlight Adébímpé Adégbìtẹ́.

Adébímpé Adégbìtẹ́ served as PRO of FULSAN from the founding of the association until early 2021. Adébímpé conducted his Fulbright scholarship at Florida Memorial University in Miami Gardens, Florida. He is a PhD student at Tulane University in New Orleans. His research focuses on Yoruba proverbs and its effectiveness in the pedagogy of Yoruba language and culture, especially to children. He is currently preparing for his field work in Nigeria. Adébímpé enjoys traveling, cooking and watching movies. You can find him on Facebook Adebimpe.

Meet the Secretary of FULSAN, Mosúnmọ́lá Ọmọ́wùnmí Adéòjó.

Mosúnmọ́lá Adéòjó had her Fulbright scholarship at Yale University in 2017/2018 and has since bagged her Masters degree from University of Florida. Mosún is currently a PhD student in the Department of English at University of Florida. Her research focuses on Afro-Victorian, Gender and Digital Studies. When she is not buried in research and teaching duties, Mosún enjoys traveling and eating out. She entertains discourse on Nigerian politics and she is also an ardent football fan.

Mosúnmọ́lá currently lives in Gainesville where she teaches at the University of Florida. Her instagram handle is .

FULSAN continues to spotlight its members and Executives. This week, we are glad to introduce Tolú Akínwọlé.

As one of its founding members, Tolú Akínwọlé served as the first President of FULSAN from its inception in 2016 up until February 2021. He was an FLTA (Foreign Language Teaching Assistant) at University of Wisconsin-Madison between 2016 and 2017 and is presently a Doctoral student in the Department of English at UW-Madison. With respect to his research interest, Tolú is interested in how Afro-Urbanity is narrated in global Black Literatures. When he is not teaching or studying, Tolú is either watching comedy movies or playing football. You can find him on Facebook as Tolu Akinwole and on Twitter .

FULSAN is delighted to introduce Olúwáfúnké̩ Ògúnyá-Ọláòṣebìkan, our Financial Secretary.

Olúwáfúnké̩ did her Fulbright Foreign Language Teaching Assistantship at Yale University Connecticut in 2015. She is currently a PhD candidate at Florida State University (FSU) in Tallahassee majoring in African-American Literature & Cultural Studies. Her scope of research includes Black Women's Fiction, African/Africana Folklore, and Motherhood. A dutiful administrator, Fúnké̩ is both the Financial Secretary of American Association of Teachers of Yorùbá and our own Fulbright Language Scholars’ Association of Nigeria (FULSAN). She served as an Assistant to the English Undergraduate Chair at FSU and is currently the membership officer of the Sigma Tau Delta, FSU chapter. She is on LinkedIn Ogunya.

FULSAN is proud to introduce our Vice Chair of the Board of Trustees, Modúpé̩ Yusuf.

Modúpé̩ Yusuf conducted her Fulbright Foreign Language Teaching Assistantship at Southern Illinois University Edwardsville between 2016 and 2017. After the program, she proceeded to a doctoral degree at Michigan Technological University in Houghton where she is currently a PhD candidate in the department of Rhetoric, Theory and Culture. The breadth of her research includes the rhetoric of health and medicine, health technology, women’s health and reproductive rights. FULSAN is proud to introduce its new Executives. This month, we spotlight Matthew Ajíbádé.

Matthew Ajíbádé is the President of FULSAN. Part of the 2017/2018 Fulbright Foreign Language Teaching Assistantship (FLTA) cohort, Matthew conducted his FLTA fellowship at Indiana University Bloomington. He is currently a PhD student in the same school where he studies Linguistics. His research focuses on the interface between phonetics, phonology, and pragmatics in relation to L1 and L2 acquisition.
