The most expensive thing in Nigeria is not fuel or forex, it is bad leadership.

We pay for it daily with inflation, insecurity, unemployment, broken healthcare, and darkness. The good news? We have the power to change it.

Good governance is not a favour from any politician.

Better roads, working schools, stable electricity, affordable food, and jobs are not gifts, they are your rights as a citizen of this country. Stop saying thank you for what was always yours.

But voting alone is not enough. Democracy is a process, not a one-day event. After you vote, stay engaged.

Ask questions. Track projects. Hold your representatives accountable, not just in 2027, but every single day in between.

Too many Nigerians believe that democracy ends on election day. Cast your vote, go home, and wait to see what happens. But that is not how governance works.

Good governance requires citizens who pay attention, who ask questions, who hold their representatives accountable between elections, who attend town halls, who speak up when public funds go missing, who demand transparency at every level.

Your vote lays the foundation, but your voice builds the structure. What are your leaders doing with your local government allocation?

What happened to that road project budget? Is your representative showing up at the National Assembly?

Ask. Track. Demand. Repeat. Democracy is not a one-day event, it is a daily responsibility. 🇳🇬

Nigeria is bleeding quietly.

Fuel is between ₦1,100 and ₦1,400 per litre depending on where you are. Bread is ₦2,000. A crate of eggs, ₦7,500. Pampers at ₦40,000. And your child's "public" university now costs over ₦600,000.

This is not a cost of living. This is a cost of survival.

Cement alone, the backbone of every Nigerian's dream of owning a home, now sells between ₦8,500 and ₦10,500 per bag, and higher in remote areas. Electricity on Band A is ₦250 per kilowatt hour. Cooking gas, ₦1,700 per kilo. A carton of Indomie, ₦11,000.

Indomie. The food of students. The food of hustlers. The food of people with nothing left to spare.

Nigeria's inflation rose to 15.38% in March 2026. Food inflation accelerated. Transport costs jumped 16.9%. And yet, salaries have not kept pace. Minimum wage has not kept pace. Dignity has not kept pace.

The people are not lazy. The people are not ungrateful. The people are simply doing the math and the math is brutal.

In Nigeria, we have been conditioned to celebrate the bare minimum, a road rehabilitated, a borehole commissioned, a school painted every four years before elections. But these are not gifts. They are your rights as a citizen.

You pay taxes. Your communities contribute to this nation. In return, you deserve roads you can drive on, schools where children can actually learn, electricity that doesn't require a generator backup, food you can afford, and streets where you feel safe.

This is what government is supposed to look like. Not a favour from a "magnanimous" leader — a basic duty to the people.

In 2027, let's stop voting for promises and start demanding performance. 🇳🇬

Fire Outbreak at Head of Service Secretariat in Abuja

A section of the Office of the Head of the Civil Service of the Federation at the Federal Secretariat in Abuja caught fire Monday morning.

Emergency responders from the Federal Fire Service were deployed after the fire was reportedly noticed around 8:20 a.m.

Authorities say the blaze affected Section C of the building, and firefighters are working to contain it.

The cause of the fire has not yet been confirmed, and there are no immediate reports of casualties.
