In this video, I’m using the keyboard to break it down in the simplest way possible. You’ll see exactly how to identify a tone (whole step) and a semitone (half step) between notes. 🎹
Understanding tones and semitones is one of the foundations of music theory, and once you get this, building scales, understanding intervals, and finding keys becomes much easier!

Key Signature Part 2
🎼 | An Easy Way to Remember Sharps & Flats!

Do you struggle to remember the order of sharps and flats in key signatures? 🤔
Here’s a simple trick that can make it much easier! 🎶
👉 Good Days Are Every Body’s Favourite — use the first letters to remember the order of sharps.
And for flats, the same words simply use the words from bottom up. That is, whereas sharps is from 1 to 6, flats from 6 to 1.

I think the best way to memorize is to form your own Mnemonics. Use words you can easily remember.

I’ve also included the major keys in the chart so you can see exactly how the mnemonic connects to each key signature.

💡 Music theory doesn’t have to be difficult when you know the right way to approach it.

🎶 HARMONIC vs MELODIC INTERVALS — Can you tell the difference?

Did you know that intervals can be classified by how the two notes are played? 🎼

In this video, I explain the two main types of intervals:
🎵 Melodic Interval : when the two notes are played one after another.
🎵 Harmonic Interval : when the two notes are played at the same time.

It may look simple, but understanding this difference is an important step towards becoming confident in reading and understanding music. 🎹📖

Those ♯ sharps and ♭ flats you see immediately after the clef on a music sheet, what do they mean? 🤔
That’s your KEY SIGNATURE! 🎶
In this post, we’re taking a simple look at what a key signature is, why it is important, and how it tells us the key a piece of music is written in.
We’ll also begin memorising the order of sharps and flats:
♯ Sharps: F C G D A E
♭ Flats: B E A D G C
And yes, the placement of each sharp and flat on the stave matters! 👀🎼
