The passing of Professor Yusuf 'Lanre Badmus also known as Badmas 'Lanre is indeed a profound loss to the academic and religious community.

News of his demise was shared on January 30, 2026, shortly after the Maghrib prayer, marking the end of a life dedicated to scholarship and faith.

Professor Badmus was a distinguished figure at the University of Ilorin, where he served as a Professor of Science of the Qur'an in the Islamic Studies Unit.

- Beyond the classroom, he was highly respected for his leadership and character:

- Academic Leadership: He served in several high-ranking positions at the University of Ilorin, including Dean of the Postgraduate School, Director of the Centre for Affiliated Institutions, and Director of the Linguistics Immersion Centre,

- Religious Service: He was the Chairman of the National Hijrah Council, Kwara State Chapter, and was a prominent Imam known for his Friday Juma'at sermons that often addressed social justice and responsible leadership.

- Exemplary Character: Known for his humility and steadfastness, he was frequently called upon as a guest speaker and book reviewer at major religious and community events in Ilorin.

- Scholarly Contribution: He was a published author, notably of the book Sayyid Qutb: A Study of His Tafsir, and was a dedicated trainer of Arabic teachers for nearly three decades.

His legacy as a mentor and an "exemplary being" remains through the many students and lives he touched with his infectious enthusiasm and commitment to excellence.

May Allah grant him Jannah
