Vetland students clinch 2nd place nationally in β€œI Beg to Differ” School Debate.
Lagos State public school, Vetland Senior Grammar School took 2nd position overall, and the highest-ever placement by a public school, in the β€œI Beg to Differ” Secondary School Debate Tournament, organized by Nigeria Info FM.
The team auditioned on 31 January 2026 and progressed through 32 schools to the final.
Principal Dr. Maria Eko registered online in early January, three-member team β€” Popola Oyinkansola Mary, Olagbaju Hephzibah, and Oyeniyi Abisoye, coached by Oyeleye Aanuoluwapo Omolayo.
The winning team received medals, equipment (selfie sticks, smart video-calling cameras, portable microphones), and cash prizes.
This is testament to what Lagos public school students can do with early preparation and strong coaching.
