Dear parents,
Today is Valentine’s Day, and it is important that we deliberately guide our children so they do not fall victim to the wrong beliefs surrounding this day.
We kindly encourage all parents to take time to speak with their children about what is happening today and help them gain the right understanding.
Many teenagers and youths have misunderstood
Valentine’s Day and taken it to unhealthy extremes, believing that engaging in sexual relationships is a way to prove love.
This belief is false and contrary to the Word of God. As parents, we must clearly teach our children that true love is rooted in obedience, self-discipline, respect, and holiness.
The Bible instructs us to keep our bodies holy:
• “Flee fornication… your body is the temple of the Holy Ghost… therefore glorify God in your body.” (1 Corinthians 6:18–20)
• “For this is the will of God, even your sanctification, that ye should abstain from fornication.” (1 Thessalonians 4:3)
Please remind our children that one wrong decision can lead to a lifetime of regret and trouble.
Scripture warns us through the account of David and Bathsheba: after David sinned with Uriah’s wife and arranged for Uriah’s death, the consequences followed his household for generations.
• “Now therefore the sword shall never depart from thine house…” (2 Samuel 12:10)
Let us also remind them of the lessons they have been taught concerning self-discipline, which is a fruit of the Spirit:
• “But the fruit of the Spirit is… temperance (self-control).” (Galatians 5:22–23)
• “He that hath no rule over his own spirit is like a city that is broken down, and without walls.” (Proverbs 25:28)
As we work together in guiding and praying for our children, may God grant us wisdom and grace. We declare, according to His Word:
• “We will not labour in vain, nor bring forth for trouble.” (Isaiah 65:23)
May the Lord help our children to walk in purity, wisdom, and the fear of God.
We will not bring forth for trouble, in Jesus mighty name. Amen.
God bless you.
’sday
