What is a word problem in maths?
It is a maths question written as one or more sentences that requires one's application of maths knowledge to a โreal-lifeโ scenario or a problem represented in ordinary language rather than in mathematical notation.
Correctly solving rightly derived equations will yield perfect answer(s) to a word problem.
Tips for solving word problems:
1)Know the basics. This is very important as foundational knowledge of specific topics in Maths would go a long way in your quest to find solution to these kind of problems, these topics include but are not limited to:
Number and place value
Decimals and percentages
Fractions, ratio and proportion
Measurement
Algebra
Geometry(properties of shape)
Statistics, et cet.
2)Pay attention to details. Rushing over just one sentence in a word problem can alter the correctness of your derived equations, a wrongly derived equation will surely give you incorrect answer(s). Take time to develop a right Mathematical notation for the problem you intend to solve.
3)Haven derived the equation, solve accordingly, follow the rules of whatever equation you derived, examples of equations includes, simultaneous equations, quadratic equations, statistical equation and the likes.
4)Verify your answer whether it satisfies the conditions of the word problem, if it dose not review your Mathematical notations and solve again.

Do you know that 2 x 2 x 2 = 8
If I ask you, how many times do I need to mutilply 2 by itself to get 8, you would say 3.
Now the ๐ก๐จ๐ ๐๐๐ฅ of times it takes to mutilply a particular number by itself to get another number is called its ๐๐ซ๐ฃ๐ข๐ก๐๐ก๐ง.
Another way I can ask for the exponent of a number is to ask you what is Log base 2 of 8.
I just asked you what is the exponent of 2 that will give me 8, i.e 2 raised to the power of what number will give me 8.
Please note that a number raised to the power of 1 is itself, that means the logarithm of a number with same number as the base is one.
Now
Log base 2 of 2 is 1 because 2 raise to power of 1 is 1.
Log base 4 of 16 is 2 because 4 raised to the power of 2 is sixteen.
Log base 4 of 2 is 1/2 or 0.5 because 4 raised to the power of half is 2.
Log base 5 of 125 is 3 because 5 raised to the power of 3 is 125.
Log base 27 of 3 is 1/3 because 27 raised to the power of 1/3 is 3.
Now what is
Log base 100 of 10
Log base 36 of 6
Thanks.

A quadratic equation is an equation that has at least one term squared. It is an equation of second degree. ax^2 + bx + c = 0 is a typical quadratic equation. a, b and c are numerical constants called coefficients.
Completing the square method is one of the four ways of solving quadratic equations. The three others are Graphing, Quadratic Formula or Formula Method and Factoring.
You must know how to make an expression a perfect square to be able to solve quadratic equations using completing the square method.

A transversal is a line that cuts or passes through two or more lines in the same plane at two distinct points.
Transversals help establish whether two other lines in the Euclidean plane are parallel.
It is called a perpendicular transversal if it crosses the parallel lines at right angles.

A set is a list or collection of a well-defined but distinct objects.
Well-defined: Items in a set should share or have same properties. In other words, items or elements in the list should not contradict each other.
Distinct: Each object or item in the list is different from the other, not in properties but in the number of times it appears in the set, items may not be repeated.
Examples:
Set of Vowels in the English Alphabet = {a, e, i, o, u}
Set of even numbers greater(more) than 2 but less(smaller) than 10 = {4, 6, 8}
Set of shapes = (Circle, Rectangle, Triangle, Square}
Give an example of a Set in the comment box.
