Throughout history, society has marginalized disabled and minority individuals and communities. The deaf community is no exception. Today, although the role of Deaf culture in society has much improved, there is still a paramount communication barrier between the hearing world and the Deaf. The current relationship status of the hearing interactions with the Deaf shows that there is a need for improvement in these social relationships and a need for further, more detailed training. While there are significant data on hearing attitudes towards deafness, there are relatively less data on hearing people’s specific emotional reactions and their causes during social interaction with a deaf person. Trainings on this subject can lead to a better understanding of these relationships as well as how they can be improved.
In other to have an inclusive community between the deaf and the hearing, there is need for a minor understanding of who a deaf person is, what makes them behave the way they do, the social, psychological and emotional effect of their impairments and many more.
*In this online webinar we will be discussing:*
Meaning, causes, symptoms and treatment of deafness
Characteristics of different levels of hearing loss
Societal interaction between deaf and hearing people.
Psychological, emotional, social and behavioral effects of deafness.
Communication Between Hearing and Deaf People
Attitudes and Perceptions of Deafness et.c
