Babatunde “Kay” Oyajobi, MBBS, PhD, MBA, professor in the Department of Cell Systems and Anatomy in the Joe R. and Teresa Lozano Long School of Medicine and UT Distinguished Teaching Professor at The University of Texas at San Antonio (UT San Antonio), has been elected to the 2026 class of Fellows of the American Society for Bone and Mineral Research (ASBMR).

Meet UNILAG student who won Huawei global ICT competition in China

The University of Lagos has celebrated one of its students, Peter A. Fagbola, after he emerged as a winner at the Huawei Global ICT Competition held in Shenzhen, China.

Fagbola, a student of the Department of Systems Engineering in the Faculty of Engineering and a member of the ABS-CITS Huawei Academy, was part of Team Nigeria Cloud, which clinched first prize at the global competition and received a cash prize of N3.5million.

The competition, regarded as one of the world’s most prestigious technology contests, attracted thousands of university students from across the globe.

According to a statement by the university on Friday, Fagbola’s journey to the global stage began when he emerged as the overall winner in the Cloud and AI Track at the national competition while representing UNILAG.

He later advanced to the Southern Africa Regional Competition, where he and his teammates secured first prize, earning Nigeria’s ticket to the global finals in Shenzhen, China.

At the global competition, Team Nigeria Cloud outperformed teams from different countries to emerge champions, winning the top prize and a N3.5 million cash reward.

Law without Borders — Earn Your Dual LLM in UNILAG & Dundee

In December 2025, the University of Lagos, Akoka, Lagos, announced its Joint LL.M. Program with the University of Dundee, Scotland, through a LinkedIn campaign highlighting the global partnership. The program allows students to earn a Master of Laws (LL.M.) degree from both universities by beginning their studies at before continuing in . It combines legal perspectives from the Global South and Global North, giving students access to world-class teaching, research opportunities, and international exposure.
The Joint LL.M. Program gives students the opportunity to gain international legal education and graduate with dual degrees that improve their career prospects. UNILAG Staff School @ 60

On Saturday, June 13, 2026, at the Tolu Odugbemi Hall (formerly Staff School Hall), University of Lagos, Akoka, the Staff School held a Meet and Greet as part of activities marking its 60th anniversary. The event also featured the launch of the Staff School Global Alumni Association, bringing together former pupils, parents, staff, friends of the school, and members of the university community to reconnect and celebrate six decades of excellence.

The event strengthened the relationship between the school and its alumni, creating opportunities for networking, collaboration, and future support. It also helped to build a stronger alumni community that can contribute to the growth and development of the school. UNILAG Strengthens Global Partnerships at Inaugural Brazil-Africa Rectors’ Forum

From Sunday, May 25 to Tuesday, May 27, 2026, at the International Convention Center, Brasília, Brazil, the University of Lagos participated in the inaugural Brazil–Africa Rectors' Forum. Represented by the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Development Services), Professor Foluso Afolabi-Lesi, and the Director of the Office of Global Engagement, Partnerships and Prospects (OGESP), Professor Abimbola Sowemimo, joined university leaders from across and to discuss academic cooperation, research partnerships, student and staff exchange programs, and joint degree opportunities. was one of only two Nigerian universities represented at the high-level forum.
The forum created new opportunities for the University of Lagos to build international partnerships that will benefit students, lecturers, and researchers through academic exchanges, joint research, and global collaboration. It also strengthened UNILAG's international reputation and expanded its network of global partners.
