You know that thing we do when we have symptoms of an illness or faced with a 'situation' and immediately run to Google or an AI bot for a diagnosis? Well, I finally found the name for what I’m going through today. 😂😂

It's called "desirable difficulty" and the "fluency illusion" (the definitions are at the end of this post)

Yesterday, I decided to level up my research skills. I thought, 'I’ll just learn how to form research questions, how hard can it be?' Well... it was hard. I sat there, staring at this diagram, and I felt completely stuck. And then, I thought 'If you were meant to be great at this, wouldn't it come naturally? Why is this so hard?

I did a little digging to understand this. I'm happy to say... it is normal. Well....sometimes
I realized something vital:

Muscles don't grow when the weight is light.

Character doesn't grow when life is easy.

Brains don't grow when the concepts are simple.

If you are confused today, congratulations. It means you’re pushing your boundaries. The breakthrough is always on the other side of the frustration. I’m choosing to create positive energy around this struggle because, honestly, what good does being frustrated do?

The Definitions (For my fellow learners): 📖 The Fluency Illusion: Thinking you "get it" just because a diagram looks easy, only to realize you can’t apply it. 📖 Desirable Difficulty: The fact that if learning feels easy, you’re probably not actually learning. Your brain only builds new pathways when it’s truly challenged.

I’m choosing the challenge. Are you struggling with a "heavy" concept today? Don't quit. Your brain is just growing its muscles.

I’m rooting for us!🤍

I’ve always been a huge fan of learning new skills and upskilling myself. I’m not trying to brag, but I’ve tried my hands on so many things, both hand skills and digital skills.

But if I’m being honest, most of the time, I don't actually finish them.

Why? Because I was getting into these skills because they were the "it" thing. They were the skills people expected me to have or the ones that promised the most money. But at the end of the day, I never ended up using them.

So I thought, why not learn a skill that solves a problem I’m actually facing right now?

I want to learn something that helps me today, with the hope that it eventually translates into something I can use to solve problems for other people too. That’s why I’ve chosen three specific areas to focus on:

1. Research Skills: My 500L project is coming up and I want to be ready. I want to have so many questions prepared that if my supervisor rejects one, I have plenty more to show him without feeling burnt out. Plus, as someone who wants to speak publicly about Environmental Health, I need my knowledge to be sharp.

2. Data Analysis: This is for my research, but also for my future. Every internship application I see asks for data skills. I want to be ready when that opportunity comes.

3. Soft Skills: I want to learn the right attitude and how to show up as a professional during my internship. 🤝

I’m starting with what I need today so I can be who I want to be tomorrow.

Do you ever feel the pressure to learn a skill just because it’s "trendy," even if you don't need it? Let’s talk about it in the comments. I’m rooting for us

There is a specific kind of magic that only exists at 4 or 5:00 AM 🌙✨💫.

I’ll be honest with you, I used to be the biggest "To-Do List" skeptic. I honestly thought my brain was enough to keep track of all I plan to do for the day. The truth? it was, but I see a to-do list for what it really is: A roadmap to confidence.(This is based on my perspective)

Here’s the thing I discovered. There is an incredible, almost addictive joy in ticking that little box. Every time I strike a line through a task, I’m telling myself: "I can achieve what I set out to do." It’s a psychological win that makes the biggest goals feel possible.

If you’re feeling lost on not being productive, start with the morning. Win the morning, win the day. You’d be surprised how much power you can find in the silence.

Are you a "List Maker" or do you "Wing It"? If you’re struggling to find your rhythm this holiday or during the day, try the 5:00 AM list with me

30 days. That’s all the time I have before the chaos starts again. ⏱️

Being on break is a blessing, but the "Idea Pressure" is heavy. I have a list of skills to learn and projects to start, and I’m terrified of school resuming before I even get halfway.

It’s tempting to just switch off and disappear into seasonal movies. But I know that how I spend these few weeks determines how I’ll handle the next session. I’m realizing that the "Holiday Version" of me can also help build the "Professional Version" of me.

I don’t have all the answers yet. I’m still figuring out how to balance the rest I need with the growth I want. But I’m choosing to start.

It’s a choice I have to make this holiday: Consistent movies or consistent growth plus a little movie time 😅?

My first professional paycheck didn't come from a 9-to-5. It came from a microphone. 🎤💰

Late last year, I was invited for my first paid public speaking gig. I’ve talked about HSE and Sustainability on this page for a while, but being paid to share my expertise was a new level.

Learning in Public: The biggest finding? Your expertise is valuable now, not "someday" after graduation.

This trip reminded me that your work as a student doesn't have to stay inside the four walls of a lecture hall. When you put in the effort and share your journey (learning in public), you create seats for yourself at tables you never thought you'd reach

They say silence is golden, but in my case, silence was growth. 📈

I’ve been off the grid for a bit, but I haven't been idle. 2025 was a year of "firsts" for me: my first paid speaking gig, my radio debut with Ecopulse, and even a trip to Abuja for a major competition. But it was also a year where I learned that balancing school and a professional brand can be alot by hey we don'tgive up here.

I’m waking this page up because it’s time to share the 'findings' from my journey as an Environmental Health student. This week, I’m breaking down the 5 major milestones that made my career path.

Are you ready for the comeback?

New Year. Same mission. Better focus. 🚀

Hey everyone,

It's a new month 🥹🤭

I know this page has been quiet for a while.

The honest truth? I'm a student, and life got incredibly busy. I got overwhelmed trying to create the "perfect" content and ended up creating nothing at all.

But I'm back, and I'm refocusing on the original mission. For me, this page is my public accountability partner. It's my way to track my journey and share my findings because no part of our education is ever a waste of time.

Expect the full gist about my adventures 🤭

It's good to be back.

Guysssss.......This might look like a simple spreadsheet to some. For me, this is hours of exhaustion, frustration, and a major milestone.

This week, we've been deep in the theory of Risk Assessment. But theory is one thing. Putting it into practice is another.

I set out to build my first-ever risk matrix in Excel from scratch🤭. And I will be honest with you: it was hard. My first time using excel too.... I know I know madam professional 😂

It's a humbling experience when a skill that seems second nature to others feels like a mountain to you. I'm glad I was able to breakthrough the feeling after.......😄😄

How did you spend your Saturday? 🤭🤭

My legs are feeling it guysss.....but it was totally worth it. The Tabatafit festival was such a blast 💃💃

Being a student and a career lady I try as much as possible to stay fit and eat healthy. You can too

Woke up this morning and this quote came to mind during meditation. Take a moment to reflect on this.

"The greatest risk isn't being late to the change. It's never waking up to the need for it. For those of us who are awake: the work starts now."
