NERD stands for Nigeria Education Repository and Databank.

It is launched by the Federal Ministry of Education, it is a centralized digital platform designed to store academic records, preserve research, and stop certificate racketeering across the country.

What are the Key Features of NERD

1) Mandatory NYSC Integration:
Graduates are required to complete their NERD clearance—which involves uploading their final year project/thesis to the platform—before they can be mobilized for the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC).

2) Permanent Academic ID: Students are assigned a unique digital identifier (NDN) that stays with them to permanently track their academic progress.

3) Credential Verification: The platform prevents academic fraud by allowing employers and institutions to instantly verify certificates using secure National Credential Numbers (NCNs) and QR codes.
