Why Kids Forget Maths Fast and How to Fix it

Have your child ever learned something in maths today and then forgotten it tomorrow?

Don’t worry, it happens to many children.

Sometimes they try to remember answers instead of understanding them.

For example, a child might know that 6 × 5 = 30, but if you don’t know it means “6 groups of 5,” your brain forgets it later.

Why kids forget maths:

How to fix it:

✅ Try to explain how you got your answer.

3 Ways to Make Maths Homework Less Stressful

1️⃣ Break it into small parts
Don’t try to finish everything at once. Tackle 3–4 questions, take a short break, then continue. It makes the work feel lighter.

2️⃣ Use real-life examples
If it’s about money, think of shopping. If it’s about time, think of your favourite TV show. Maths becomes easier when you connect it to things you already know.

3️⃣ Ask for help early
Don’t wait until you’re frustrated. Ask your teacher, a friend, or even check examples in your notebook. Sometimes, one quick tip can save hours of stress.
